Philippines' Manny "Pac-man" Pacquiao did not disappoint his countrymen (Manny pronounces it as count-tri-men) when he knocked out Mexican Jorge "Coloradito" Solis during the eight rounds in a fight for the WBC International Superfeatherweight Title at the Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas.
Solis started strong, but ended up as weak as a little boy, after Pacquiao threw hard hitting punches on him and led to his knockdown.
As always, the Filipino boxer became more aggressive as tbe fight went on.
But in fairness to Solis, he gave Pacquiao a hard time, to knock him down at least. It was a great fight, and fighting with Pacquiao is already a privilege as they say.
Pacquiao's new record is 44 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws with 34 knockouts, while Solis gets his first defeat this time, aside from his 32 wins, 2 draws and 23 knockouts.
Good thing that there was no Chavit Singson or any politicians around to go up the stage and celebrate with Manny.
What's next for Pacquiao? He'd be back to the Philippines to concentrate on his candidacy for a congressional seat. Will it be another sure victory for the boxing champ? And soon on an unconfirmed date, he will have a rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacquiao defeated Marquez in May of 2004.
