Despite of the malicious pictures and text messages that circulated on the internet and texts a few weeks ago, friends Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby continue to shine as two of the brightest stars of Philippine TV and Movies, most specifically as two of the most sought-after actors, singers and endorsers (all rolled in one).
As they say, no one can put the two good men down as both Piolo's and Sam's stars become brighter and stronger.
The two friends have another reason to celebrate as they are both nominated in the upcoming PMPC Star Awards for Movies to be staged on March 24.
Piolo is nominated for the movie Don't Give Up On Us as Movie Actor of the Year while Sam is shortlisted as New Movie Actor of the Year for his second movie You Are the One (his debut movie wasn Close To You).
Some say that Sam has a big chance of winning as New Movie Actor while Piolo may lost to Cesar Montano (Ligalig) or Ryan Agoncillo (Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo) for the Movie Actor Award.
And, don't you know that every time Sam is nominated by an award-giving body, Piolo Pascual is also nominated? Well, that may be just a co-incidence, but to count, this is the fourth time already that Piolo and Sam are both nominated by an award-giving body.
Their first was when Piolo was nominated as Best Drama Actor for Sa Piling Mo in the 20th PMPC Star Awards for Television where Sam had his first nomination as Best New Male TV Personality for ASAP '06 which also turned out to be his first award.
Secondly, Sam is a nominee for Best Male Artist Category by Myx Music Awards 2007 and Piolo is also nominated for Best Video Guest Appearance.
Just a week ago, Piolo's role in Don't Give Up On Us was recognized by the Entertainment Press Society, Inc. (Enpress)as one of the nominees for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Musical or Comedy). Sam, on one hand, is Breakthrough Performance by an Actor nominee.
Piolo was already a Grand Slam Best Supporting Actor for the movie Dekada '70 and if Sam wins both the Enpress and Star Awards, he might be called the Best New Actor the Philippine Showbiz has ever produced. His achievement in just a year and 2 months in showbiz is extremely great and unmatched.
