MART & CHIZ
Two Escuderos are making waves in the Philippines, one as a promising actor and the other as a top contender for the Philippine senate.
Mart Escudero started on ABS-CBN and was launched as one of the Star Circle Batch 13. His screen name then was Mark Butler and was a member of the Freshboys on the defunct show MTB along with the Roco twins.
He also joined the reality show Qpids, also on ABS-CBN, but was booted out during the early part of the competition.
Mart also had appearances on the teleserye Mga Anghel na Walang Langit and on movies such as Malikmata and Kung Ako Na Lang Sana. As an endorser, he was the image model of Novo and of a computer university. Then he moved to GMA 7 under Popoy, also Dennis Trillo's manager, and landed a role as Marianne Rivera's brother in the TV soap Kung Mamahalin Mo Lang Ako.
Right now, Mart Escudero is here to prove once again that he has a staying power in showbiz and got lots of talent as a top contender of the reality show Starstruck 4: The Next Level who has now only 8 remaining finalists including Mart.
Another Escudero to hit big this 2007 is Francis Joseph Guevara Escudero who happens to be a relative of Mart. Also known as Chiz, Francis is currently a top senatorial candidate of the United Opposition for the upcoming Philippine election on May.
Chiz is expected to be a topnotcher, at least on the top 3 among the Senatorial bets. In fact, he is the top bet of the employees of Social Security Sytem determined through a mock election conducted from March 06 to 09.
A University of the Philippines graduate, Chiz Escudero has served three terms as 1st District Representative of Sorsogon from 1998 up to the present.
In the senate, he is known for being a gentleman and one of the most genuine members of the Senate. As what another senatorial candidate Mike Defensor once said, Chiz is "very competent, very eloquent and competent."
No one knows exactly what is going to happen but one thing is certainly sure, both Chiz and Mart deserve your votes.
Chiz Escudero was quoted as saying "Winning doesn't necessarily mean you're right. History will be a better judge of that. But that's the beauty of democracy - you believe what you believe, I believe what I believe..."
