Michael Phelps' new girlfriend is a cocktail waitress

PEOPLE has reported on its website that the Great Olympian Michael Phelps has a new girlfriend named Caroline Pal.

Caroline is believed to be as a 26-year old, tattooed cocktail waitress at the Moon Nightclub in Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas.

According to the report, Phelps and Pal have been dating for two months now and Phelps has already introduced her to his family in Baltimore last Thanksgiving.

If it's indeed true that Caroline is Phelps' new girlfriend, she must be super lucky to have Phelps (and not the other way around?).

Angel Locsin wins 'Best Actress' in the 22nd PMPC Star Awards for Television

Angel Locsin has won Best Single Performance By an Actress in the 22nd Star Awards for Television by the Philippime Movie Press Club (PMPC) last night.

She won for her outstanding performance in an episode of MMK: Ang Tahanan Mo entitled 'Pilat', beating award-winning nominees such as Susan Roces, Helen Gamboa, Cherry Pie Picache and Gloria Romero.

Before attending the awards night at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia, Angel guested on The Buzz with Piolo Pascual for the promotion of their upcoming movie Love Me Again: Land Down Under.

And there she was asked by host Kris Aquino about the biggest highlight of her career this 2008.

Angel said that her network transfer from GMA 7 to ABS-CBN set a new milestone in her career, as she got to improve her craft and earned 2 nominations from the PMPC Star Awards.

It was indeed a smart move for Angel to move to ABS-CBN since her dream of becoming a certified actress has been realized in the Kapamilya Network.

“Lord, aktres na ako!...Sa date ko po ngayong gabi (referring to Luis Manzano), thank you for making me happy!” said Angel during her acceptance speech.

At this point, Angel has earned a notch higher than her rival Marian Rivera as well as Heart Evangelista or even other Kapamilya stars such as Anne Curtis and Bea Alonzo who are yet to earn a Best Actress award.

In the Best Drama Actress category, Angel was nominated for her performance in 'Lobo' but she lost the award to Sunshine Dizon for 'Impostora'.

It was Sunshine's 2nd consecutive Best Drama Actress. She won the same award last year for 'Bakekang'.

Angel's leading man Piolo Pascual was hailed Best Drama Actor.

Dingdong beats Piolo and Chard as Favorite Actor in the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2008

    MYKIRU'S FIRST CATCH

The first ever Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in the Philippines was successfully held last night, November 29, 2008 at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

Seven awards were handed out, including the much coveted Pinoy Wannabe award.

From 2004 to 2007, the Pinoy Wannabe Award was already given out annually, but only during a sneak preview party of Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

This year's winner is no less than KC Concepcion beating international star Charice Pempengco.

Previous honorees for the Pinoy Wannabe Award include Sarah Geronimo in 2004, Kitchie Nadal in 2005, Sam Concepcion in 2006 and Ms. Angel Locsin last year.

Remember Dingdong Dantes' commercial where he wished he could get an acting award?

Well, the Best Actor award is yet to come, but as a popular and well-favored actor, Dingdong's wish is almost granted. This time, Dingdong wins as the kids' Favorite Actor, beating other worthy contenders such as Piolo Pascual, Richard Gutierrez and John Lloyd Cruz.

How about her screen partner Marian Rivera? Unfortunately, she lost to Kim Chiu.

Kim, whose loveteam partner Gerald Anderson lost to Dingdong, managed to beat other popular actresses such as Marian Rivera, Sarah Geronimo and Angel Locsin.

Dingdong and Marian's first show 'Marimar' was adjudged Fave TV Show.

Ateneo's basketball superstar Chris Tiu is very thankful he is the most favored athlete of today.

"Thank you very very much to all of you who voted for me as Favorite Athlete! Winning the award really means a lot to me especially if the other nominees are world class athletes like Manny Pacquiao, Efren Bata Reyes, Japoy Lizardo and Miguel Molina. To all those who texted and voted through the internet once, ten, twenty and even a hundred times, thank you so so much!! This is the first time I've won such an award at this large a scale!.," he said.

The awarding ceremony was hosted by ace TV host and comedian Michael V, whose program 'Bubble Gang' lost to 'Marimar' in the Fave TV show category.

Charice might sing at Obama's inauguration

    I hope it's true.

On ABS-CBN News, an internet buzz about the possibility of Charice performing in the inauguration of newly-elected US President Barack Obama on December 15th has been reported with reference to sites that started the rumor.

Note that one of the posters in a forum cited by ABS-CBN News is named "don't be fooled".

    To quote:

abs-cbnNEWS.com tried to find out where this 'inauguration performance' report started via online research, and the news site found the post of g-rex_03 at http://www.peyups.com/postreply.khtml?topic=36005&forum=19&post=3350010&....

"Forum Resident: i had a meeting with concert producers over lunch today and one of them told me that Charice might sing in the inauguration of Obama (because of Oprah) and she (Oprah) is also producing a kids' talent show in the States, where (prepare for this): Charice will be the host. last: she charges $30,000 per song in the States. But she still remains very, very grounded."

Speculation then began on internet forums and blogs, that the teen singer will sing at Obama's inauguration gala.

"Charice Fans...any truth to the rumors that Charice may be singing on President Obama's inauguration on Dec 15? This is due to Oprah's influence on the president elect. No announcement since security clearance is involved to who is performing. Update naman. Thanks," a forumer, "yna morin posted" at http://pinoyexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?p=31072800.

"Congrats charice! Guys, let's email Oprah (go to her website) and request her to let Charice sing “I Believe” (of the AI fame) in the Obama inauguration. The song is but fitting for the American dream and surely , Charice will give justice to it. what do you think? Sounds a bit ambitious, right? But that would be the ultimate international exposure for Cha. Besides , nothing seems to be impossible for Cha right now. All the good things come rollin’. So, let’s bring it on for Charice!!!," forumer "channel7carrie" posted at htttp://www.charicemania.com/2008/11/12/best-up-coming-singers/charice-at-the-aliw-awards-night-2008/?cp=2.

In another forum site, http://theybf.com/index.php/2008/11/06/beyonce-set-to-perform-at-inaugur..., forumer "don't be fooled" included the name of Charice as one the names of international artists who might perform for the inaugural.

112508: Pageant Tidbits

Asians were highly favored in the recently concluded Mister International pageant.

The Top 3 winners are from Asia (Vietnam, Lebanon, China) and five others made it to the semi-finals: India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan (ROC).

Pageant fanatics are not generally in favor of the results.

Nothing to wonder though, because Mister International is organized by Mister Singapore Organization and was held in Taiwan.

The host candidate won two special awards, Mister Photogenic and Best National Costume other than placing in the Top 15.

Mister Vietnam Ngo Tien Doan was a Manhunt International 2007 Top 15 semi-finalist and took home the "Mr. Physique" award.

Mister Belgium Koen Van De Voorde, who placed in the Top 10, represented Luxembourg in Manhunt International 2008 last May and there he finished 13th.

Unfortunately, Mister Angola Claudio Furtado was 4th Runner Up in Manhunt International 2008, but he failed to make it to the semis of Mister International 2008.

Other favorites who didn't place in the finals were the representatives from Luxembourg, Malta, Latvia, Honduras, Nigeria and Bolivia.

For three years, Lebanon always ends up in the Top 5. Lebanon was the winner in 2006, 4th Runner Up in last year and 1st Runner Up this year.

It's the third consecutive time for Lebanon, Greece, USA, Venezuela and Singapore to place in the Mister International finals.

Last Saturday, November 22, the 20th Miss Model of the World was held in Guangdong Province, China. Miss Ukraine Mariia Lakimuk won the title with Miss China Wang Hongmin and Miss Turkey Serap Tunc as the runners up. The other two in the Top 5 were Greece and Kazakhstan.

Special awardees included: France - Miss Friendly; Venezuela - Best in Swimwear and Hungary as Miss Talent.

Over 60 models vied for the title.

In Miss World 2008, the Beach Beauty finals, one of the 5 fast-track events, will be held this Saturday, November 29. The other five fastracks are: Miss World Talent (Dec. 1), Top Model (Dec. 2), Miss World Sports (Dec. 4) and Miss People's Choice and Beauty with a Purpose, to be known on the finals night (Dec. 13).

Jeff Surio placed in the semis of Mister International 2008

Despite limited preparations, Mister Philippines Jeff Surio managed to place in the finals of Mister International 2008, which was held last night, November 24, 2008 in Taiwan.

Jeff actually had no preparations at all, because he was the last-minute replacement to the original Mister Philippines Ryan Roberts, who unfortunately had a seizure during the first day of the competition in Taiwan.

Jeff was one of the Top 10 semi-finalists in Mister International with Mister Vietnam Ngo Tien Doan as the titleholder.

It was Jeff's very first participation in an international pageant, unlike the eventual winner from Vietnam who already competed in Manhunt International 2007.

I suppose Jeff and Doan turned out to be good friends if we take a look at these photos:

Good job, Jeff! You made the Filipinos so proud.

I would like to congratulate Mr. Mike Lim, the organizer of Mister Philippines International, for giving us Surio, and Roberts as well, who lived up to expectations and make Mister Philippines International indeed a classy male pageant in the country.
