Panagbenga Festival or Baguio Flower Festival 2011: Kapamilya and Kapuso mall shows back-to-back this weekend

Kapamilya stars graced Panagbenga Festival 2011 or Baguio's Flower Festival yesterday afternoon, February 26, via a mall show at SM Baguio.

Matt Evans, Melissa Ricks, Jessy Mendiola, Joseph Marco at SM Baguio

The Kapamilya Caravan at the Panagbenga Festival featured "Sabel" stars Jessy Mendiola, Joseph Marco and Diether Ocampo as well as Melissa Ricks and Matt Evans, stars of the upcoming ABS-CBN soap "Nasaan Ka Elisa?"

And for today, Feb. 27, it's Kapuso stars' turn to celebrate with the
    people in Baguio.

"Machete" stars Aljur Abrenica, Ryza Cenon and Bela Padilla and the cast of "Nita Negrita" Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio and Lexi Fernandez will be in SM Baguio at 4 PM for the Kapuso Caravan.

Two of its highlights are the Grand Street Parade which already

Ayala Alabang trends worldwide on Twitter just because of 'condom'

Ayala Alabang made it to Twitter's Top 10 Trending Topics worldwide earlier this evening, due to the "condom with presciption" ordinance at Barangay Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa City.

Ayala Alabang peaked at #9 on Twitter and browsing the tweets, a lot of people find the ordinance funny and stupid.

As reported on GMA's 24 Oras earlier, an ordinance was passed in Brgy. Ayala Alabang stating that pharmacies within the area should
ask for presciption before selling condom and contraceptive pills.

The ordinance took effect starting today, February 24.

According to the spokesperson from Barangay Ayala Alabang, the ordinance was made to prevent pre-marital s-x.

That means, physicians will be giving condom and pill prescriptions
    only to married couples.

I find it as a useless ordinance because people would just go outside Barangay Ayala Alabang so they could buy condom even without
    prescription.

It's kinda burdensome on the part of those who want to use it, to
consult first a physician and ask for a prescription.

In the end, couples would just end up doing their "private thing" without condom especially if they can't resist the urge.

Even international artist Lea Salonga disagrees with that "condom with
prescription" ordinance in Ayala Alabang. She says on Twitter, "You
now need a prescription to purchase condoms in Barangay Ayala, Alabang. The pill, I can totally understand, but CONDOMS??? Really???"

China's Ganlulu or Gan Lulu has a video scandal filmed by her own mom

Ganlulu (or Gan Lulu), a model and actress from Beijing, China, is believed to be the woman on a video scandal available online.

    ganlulu, gan lulu video clip
Screengrab from the video, courtesy of Ku6.com

The video clip shows a naked Ganlulu while having a shower.

What's quite interesting with this scandal is that, it's Gan Lulu's very own mother who took the video of her daughter, with the latter's consent.

And not only that, the mother was also the one who uploaded the video online, hoping to find a boyfriend or a potential marriage partner for her daughter, who turns 26 this year.

    How desperate!

Both Ganlulu and her mother actually appear on video clip, telling the viewers (in Chinese language) that they're doing it to look for a boyfriend on the internet.

The video can be seen on Youtube, as well as on various Chinese video websites (such as tudou.com).

I don't understand why the mother has to do that, 'coz Gan Lulu is a gorgeous woman and lots of men would like her even without that naked video.

I think, PUBLICITY is what they want to achieve! And obviously, they've succeeded as the video makes headlines not only in China but also in other Asian countries.

Boracay makes world headlines for the video scandal filmed by ABS-CBN on New Year's Day

Boracay Island in the Philippines is now making world headlines, sadly not because of its beauty, but of the video scandal involving foreign tourists.

The said video scandal in the island of Boracay was filmed by ABS-CBN's TV Patrol and according to the news report, it happened at 2 AM on January 1, 2011.

ABS-CBN's own camera caught some foreign tourists doing scandalous acts on the shores of Boracay.

Showbiz reporter Gretchen Fullido who saw the incident herself was the one who reported it on TV and she even interviewed actress-host Ruffa Gutierrez giving her own reaction about the video scandal.

Ruffa and her family were also there vacationing, but she herself didn't see it on the spot.

It puzzles me why Gretchen only interviewed Ruffa and not those other tourists who actually saw it real and are really scandalized by what happened.

I highly doubt if TV Patrol crew really saw it happening by chance. Or could it be, they intentionally waited for it to happen and had it documented?

Even TV Patrol anchor Ted Failon also wondered about it. "Ano naman ang ginagawa ng ating mga crew sa alas dos nang madaling araw?"

Malay, Aklan Mayor John Yap is now planning to impose a "No S-x on the Beach" rule in Boracay island.

And now, news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) is reporting it internationally and has been picked up by various news sites from around the globe.

It's funny because Ruffa Gutierrez is also part of the international reports.

The video scandal in Boracay making worldwide headlines is actually good because it warns the tourists not to have s-x on the beach of Boracay or in any beaches from a conservative country like the Philippines.

But definitely, it will affect the number of tourists because some probably are now afraid that it might also happened to them, being filmed at 2AM while doing their own business.

I think some Pinoys love to do that too. (Sino aamin?)

That s-x on the beach thing happens anywhere, not only in Boracay, and it was just unlucky that ABS-CBN caught it and it involved foreigners, that's why it has become a big issue (when in fact, it shouldn't be).

Mark Salling and Manny Pacquiao together in Boracay on Christmas Day

Mark Salling has finally confirmed that he's indeed in Boracay and he's absolutely loving that beautiful island in the Philippines.

At around 6PM today, the GLEE star posted this greeting on Twitter:

"Merry Christmas from the beautiful island of Boracay."

That's 4 days after Mark was reported going to Boracay when photos of him and some Filipino flight attendants heading to Manila surfaced on the net.

But it looks like he has arrived in Boracay, just now.

Well-traveled Filipino blogger Ivan Henares could confirm this on his blog because he was on the same flight with Mark today, from Manila to Boracay. He has some photos with Mark and here's one of them:

    Mark Salling flight to Boracay

How can he be so lucky? For sure, Ivan had one of the most unforgettable travels of his life.

So, where was Mark, from Tuesday until Friday?

Last night, while everyone's waiting for the Christmas Eve, GMA 7
reporter Joseph Morong tweeted that he saw Mark eating at a local pizza chain in Makati. "saw glee's Mark Salling, eating at a local pizza hut a wyl ago. A mom and her daughter askd 2 have their pics taken w/ him. I was too shy to ask."

He then went on to describe Mark as very tall and his guy companion as too small. "Mark Salling in Makati with a guy who could have been d guy from The Mentalist? Myt be too small. Was there around 840sh pm. Wore gray. Very tall."

"Very quiet. A mom and a daughter took a pic with him. Girl asks: Are u from Glee? Sed yes and obliged hehe,"

That goes to show Mark is very approachable and accomodating to the fans.

I have also known from a source just today that Mark checked in to the A. Venue Hotel Suites in Makati City last night.

Could it be possible that Mark arrived in Boracay on Tuesday, then flew to Manila yesterday and then back to Boracay today?

    Whatever!

But what's all that matters now is the confirmation from Mark himself that he's in Boracay now and he finds it beautiful - a big boost to the island, which is among the top tourist destinations in the Philippines.

And guess who celebrated Christmas with Mark Salling in Boracay?

    Mark Salling and Manny Pacquiao
Mark Salling posts on Twitter: "Christmas dinner with my boy Manny Pacquiao".

Watch out in 2011: Manny Pacquio guesting on GLEE? Haha

    1,000 PESOS

In his official statement, President Noynoy Aquino has expressed being proud to have his signature on the P500 bill which has both of his parents.

I wonder why Kris Aquino hasn't tweeted yet or talked in an interview about how she feels now that her parents' faces and his brother Noy's signature can be found in just one currency bill.

But for sure, she's also proud of it.

The candidates dressed up in their national costumes, which

It was a surprise that Miss Japan Marina Kishina was adjudged Best in National Costume. She didn't have the grandest, and the most colorful

    well.

As Best in National Costume, Japan was automatically named Miss Sea Links City 2010.

Apology of Korean actress Lee Da Hae unacceptable to some Filipinos

Famous Korean actress Lee Da Hae (My Girl, Green Rose, East of Eden) has already apologized for allegedly insulting Filipino teachers.

Aussie-raised Lee Da Hae posted her apology on Twitter yesterday. (Read it HERE.) And according to her, she never mentioned the Filipinos or the Philippines during her interview, and it never crossed her mind to insult the Filipino teachers.

She made the apology after she was slammed by some angry Pinoy fans who were able to watch a video of her on Youtube. In the said video, Lee Da Hae was a guest on the Korean TV show "Sweet Night" and was asked to mimick English accents of various races. Watch the video below:

Lee Da Hae, who's popularly known to the Filipinos as Jasmine of "My Girl, said in her apology that she did not mention Filipinos or the Philippines when she did the "mimick" part, but the guy with her in the video clearly said, "How about the Philippines?".

Yes, she really did not mention Philippines but it seemed that she was referring to the Philippines. That's why her apology is still unacceptable to some Filipinos.

Lee Da Hae may have offended the Filipinos, but the fact still remains that a lot of Koreans are living in the Philippines and hire Filipino tutors just to teach them English. That just means, most Koreans (that includes Ryan Bang) still believe that Philippines is superior when it comes to the English language.

World Cup star Paul, the Psychic Octopus dies

Paul, the psychic octopus has died today, October 26, in his aquarium in Germany.

The manager of Oberhausen Sea Life Centre which housed Paul The Octopus has told Daily Mail Online that the psychic octopus was found dead this early morning. Cause of death is unknown but the manager believes that he had a natural death.

Paul The Octopus only lived for more than 2 years and for an octopus, they say, it's already a normal lifespan.

People from the Sea Life Centre are going to bury Paul within their grounds and a memorial shrine is being planned for him, Daily Mail reports.

For the football fans, Paul was the real star during the World Cup 2010 last July when he correctly predicted all of Germany's matches including its defeat to Spain in the semi-finals.

If you remember, Germans wanted Paul to die that time after he chose Spain to win over his homeland. But the Spanish people have adored him since then and even after the finals when he predicted Spain to emerge as champion over the Netherlands.

As it turned out, it was already Paul's last prediction and the next World Cup definitely won't be as exciting as the recent World Cup.

Inverted Philippine flag (upside down) at Obama-Aquino meeting

The first ever meeting of US President Barack Obama and Philippine
President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III last Friday has created a
controversy due to an inverted Philippine flag.

    inverted Philippine flag upside down

As seen in the photo above, the inverted Philippine flag was positioned behind President Noynoy during his meeting with Obama and other ASEAN leaders.

The Philippine flag was displayed upside down (with the red part on top of blue), it connotes that the country is declaring a war or in state of war.

Realizing the major major mistake, US Embassy spokesperson Rebecca Thompson immediately issued an apology on Sunday and stated that it
    was an honest mistake.

It's unknown who first took notice of the inverted Philippine flag but definitely it's not Pres. Noy who obviously didn't notice it 'coz if he did, he should have corrected it before he positioned himself at Obama's table.

With that, maybe it must be a practice from now on for the President and for any government officials to always check the Philippine flag.

Australian Newspaper: "The Philippines does so well in playing the victim."

An article published a few hours ago says nothing good about the Philippines following the hostage drama that happened 10 days ago.

And it's not from a Chinese newspaper but from The Australian, a leading newspaper in Australia.

The article is entitled "Filipinos on the defensive after Siege fiasco", written by Emma-Kate Symons who has already written numerous articles about the Philippines since 2007.

You can read the article online.

It says that the Philippines is doing what is does so well and that is...playing the victim.

For an author to say that the Philippines does so well in playing the victim could mean that she has other Philippine incidents in mind aside from the hostage taking drama last August 23.

The write-up said that what happened is only a confirmation of all worst stereotypes of The Philippines as a lawless, chaotic nation of rank incompetents.

It also did mention about those Filipino writers and bloggers who are turning the whole drama into a kitsch telenovela tragedy where they're the victims from Chinese bullying and arrogance.

And for those people who believe that Maria Venus Raj's victory in the Miss Universe 2010 pageant helped beautify the image of the Philippines, the author thought otherwise.

She described Philippines as having sick public culture that prefers the beauty pageant circus of Miss Philippines placing in the Top 15 of Miss Universe to a wholesale examination of the national conscience.

Maybe, we just have to understand what the article said because as what I said right after the hostage drama, it was indeed shameful for our country.

In times like this, we just have to humble ourselves for whatever other races will say about us. They may always find fault in us, so let's just accept it and help find for a better solution so that it won't happen again.

Accepting your fault is still much better than finding fault in other people.

Manila, Philippines hostage drama on board Hong Thai Travel bus

The TV programming both on ABS-CBN and GMA were affected by the hostage drama that happened at the Quirino Grand Stand in Manila, Philippines on Monday, August 23, 2010.

The airing of some primetime TV series had to be moved to a later timeslot while other shows for the day also had to be cancelled to give way for the networks' news programs which had an extensive live coverage of the hostage drama.

ABS-CBN's TV Patrol even had a live video streaming online and was watched by people around the world, including the international news organizations who were picking up and reporting the story live and straight from the Philippines.

As seen on television, the hostage drama happened onboard a Hong Thai Travel bus, which had 25 Chinese tourists from Hong Kong.

The hostage taker was a former police officer identified as Rolando Mendoza, 55 years old, and was demanding to be reinstated to his job.

Mendoza reportedly hijacked the Hong Thai Travel Bus between 9am to 10am and the hostage drama lasted for almost 12 hours. It was resolved only after the hostage taker was killed by the assaulting team.

It's so unfortunate that 8 hostages died in the incident, reportedly killed by the hostage taker.

The tourists were already on their last day touring Manila, Philippines and were scheduled to return to Hong Kong 7PM the same day.

The said hostage drama was kinda shameful. It isn't good for the image of the Philippines and I just hope it would not affect the tourism industry of the country.

Philippines' Holidays: August 21 - Yes; August 23 - No

It has been announced that August 21, 2010, Saturday, will be a specian non-working holiday in the Philippines.

That's Ninoy Aquino Day and in the past administration, there was this long weekend holiday that whenever a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be moved to the next Monday.

However, under the Noynoy Aquino administration, it's no longer the case.

August 21 (Saturday) will be the exact holiday date while August 23 (Monday) is an ordinary day or a regular working day.

Sad ka ba? For sure, the students and those who work on weekdays aren't happy with the announcement.

Robin Padilla starts Ramadan 2010 fasting | Mariel Rodriguez fasting too?

Today, August 11, the Muslim's Ramadan 2010 officially starts and for sure, actor-host Robin Padilla has already started his fasting for Ramadan.

The Ramadan 2010 will continue until September 8 and during that time, Robin will observe fasting. Fasting times vary from this day onwards depending on the sunrise, but usually, it begins 4:30 in the morning and ends 6:00 P.M.

(Please just correct me if I'm wrong)

During those times, Robin won't eat, drink nor smoke and would offer prayers.

He will also refrain from doing sexual activities during fasting times. Kaya ni utol 'yan!

Last Saturday, Robin announced on Pilipinas Win Na Win that he had to temporarily leave them show to observe Ramadhan.

Co-host Kris Aquino did mention that during Ramadan, Muslim men should keep away from sexy girls.

Oh no, Mariel Rodriguez is a sexy girl, does it mean she won't be seeing Robin during this time?

Pwede naman siguro, as long as it's not between the fasting hours.

Last night, before Robin observes Ramadan, he was spotted attending the surprise birthday party for Mariel. (Or did he organize it?) So for sure, he had lots of food, drinks and Mariel moments that night.

But how true that Mariel will also observe Ramadan 2010? She's not Muslim but she reportedly will do so for Robin. It must be love!

If that's true, that would just spark rumors that the two are already married, which has already been denied by the two last Saturday on ELive by Mariel's manager Boy Abunda on SNN the other night.

Some fans have also noticed Mariel not tweeting that much on Twitter lately which was not the case before. One fan asks, "pinagbabawalan na ba?"

Mariel's last tweet more than a day ago said that her Uber Twitter is messed up that's why she's not tweeting that much.

For today, she hasn't tweeted yet and still silent about the party with Robin last night.

Singaporean doctor Quek Kai Miew bequeaths millions to Filipina maid

It's now in the worldwide news that a Singaporean doctor named Quek Kai Miew bequeathed $6 million worth of estate to her Filipina maid.

Associated Press reports that Dra. Quek Kai Miew died last year at 66 and her 47-year-old Filipina maid for 26 years has inherited $6M, which includes cash and a luxury apartment.

The amount is in Singaporean dollars and when converted to US $, it's
more than 4million. That's 186 million in Philippine Peso.

    Ang swerte naman nya!

But that's actually something she's earned from being dedicated, loyal and trustworthy to Dra. Quek Kai Miew.

The maid's identity wasn't disclosed for an obvious reason. It's kinda sad that the report describes Philippines as a country where rich
people get kidnapped for a ransom and sometimes get killed.

But it's true. It's indeed right not to reveal her name coz her family here might be in danger.

Now, the Pinay domestic helper is planning to reside permanently in
Singapore, no longer as maid but as a multi-millionaire.
