'4th MYX Music Awards' tonight on Studio 23

The telecast of the 4th MYX Music Awards (held last February 26) will be tonight, March 01, on Studio 23.

At 8:30 PM, the Red Carpet Special will be shown followed by the Awarding Ceremonies at 9:00 PM. The post-MYX Music Awards party follows at 11:30 PM.

Some of the night's performers were Aiza Seguerra, Macoy Fundales, Nyoy Volante, Sugarfree, Bamboo, Kyla, Jay-R and Sarah Geronimo.

The presenters were also topnotch music artists and hottest celebrities. Some of them were Ogie Alcasid, KC Concepcion, Dingdong Avanzado, Jessa Zaragoza, Dennis Trillo, Mark Bautista, Jon Avila, Enchong Dee, Baron Geisler, Ryan Eigenmann, Meryll Soriano, Lovi Poe, Rachelle Ann Go, Krista Ranillo, Niña Jose, Precious Adona and Ms. Lea Salonga.

HIGHLIGHTS
*Sarah Geronimo won 6 of her 7 nominations. She lost to Christian Bautista and Sitti in the Favorite Collaboration category.

*In the 2008 MYX Music Awards, Sarah was also the big winner, with 4 awards.

*This is the 2nd consecutive time for Sarah to win Favorite Artist, Favorite Female Artist and Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ.

*Erik Santos is an all-time favorite in MYX Music Awards. For four consecutive years (in MYX Music Awards' 4-year history), Erik won as Favorite Male Artist. It's a feat that no other artists could match (at least for now).

*American Idol Season 7 Runner-Up David Archuleta gets his very first international award (Favorite International Music Video) and that's coming from MYX. In his homeland, he won two awards at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards.

*Dingdong Dantes' girls Marian Rivera and Karylle had to battle it out as Favorite Guest Appearance in a Music Video. Karylle won the award.

Sandra Inez Seifert, a big favorite in Binibining Pilipinas 2009

Sandra Inez Seifet is one of the top favorites to win any of the three major titles in Binibining Pilipinas 2009.

Sandra or Schazee, who just turned 25 last February 01, is a Filipino-German registered nurse and model, who appeared in a number of TV ads (most notably Palmolive shampoo commercial with Judy Ann Santos) and walked the fashion runways on different occasions.

She speaks four languages: English, French, German and Tagalog.

In 1998, she was Philippines' representative in the Elite International Model Search in France.

On FHM Philippines' October 2007 issue, Sandra was one of the featured babes.

GMA slightly recovers, thanks 'Totoy Bato'

GMA 7 has slightly recovered from the big disappointment caused by Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang with the pilot success of its new telebabad offering Totoy Bato, starring Robin Padilla, Manny Pacquiao and Regine Velasquez.

According to AGB Nielsen's ratings survey, Totoy Bato debuted last Monday, February 23, with a strong 36.7% Mega Manila rating beating all the primetime programs for that particular day.

However, just like the failure of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, stars of Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang, Robin Padilla who plays the title role has somehow failed in matching the success of Asian Treasures, his first Kapuso drama series.

Totoy Bato's pilot rating of 36.7% is just less than 1 percent higher than Joaquin Bordado's first episode rating of 36.6% a year ago while it's over 5 percent lower than Asian Treasures in 2007.

Totoy Bato could have been GMA's big hope of regaining 40% ratings but the charms of Robin-Manny-Regine combined is not enough.

Luna Mystika, which is still airing on GMA primetime slot, had a pilot rating of 38.9%.

Is Rihanna pregnant?

Rihanna's pregnant condition is believed to be the reason why there was a heated argument between Rihanna and boyfriend Chris Brown last Febuary 13.

That heated argument led to an alleged physical assault by Chris against Rihanna.

On the upcoming issue of Star Magazine, an entertainment mag in the US, it says that before the alleged physical confrontation, Rihanna consulted an OB/GYN at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA after confiding to her close friends that she suspected herself as pregnant with Chris’ baby.

Star Mag's eyewitness at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center claims that Rihanna was visibly nervous and upset during the check-up.


Wearing sunglasses and dressed in all black, she appeared nervous and upset. "She was extremely fidgety. She seemed totally uncomfortable," an eyewitness at the doctor's office tells Star.

With their relationship already on rocky ground, Rihanna feared a pregnancy could be the last straw and Chris might dump her.

"She was scared he would react badly," says an insider.

But Rihanna did not get the chance to tell her boyfriend of a year about her trip to the doctor. Before she got a chance to say anything, Chris beat her black and blue after she tried to grab his cellphone to read a text message he had just received.


If it's indeed true that Rihanna was pregnant during the beating incident, I hope she did not lose the baby because of that.

This is not the first time though that Rihanna is rumored as pregnant. She was suspected pregnant in July, 2007 and in November, 2008.

Arnold Reyes is the composer of Piolo's signature hit in 2003, Kung Ako Ba Siya?, which was a finalist in the first Himig Handog Love Songs where the song won for Arnold a Texters' Choice Award.

A familiar name and a constant figure in the Philippine indie cinema, Arnold has been named by the Young Filmmakers of the Philippines (YFMP) as one of the Top 20 Independent Artists for 2009 alongside Jason Abalos, Iza Calzado, Glaiza de Castro, Mylene Dizon, Eugene Domingo, Baron Geisler, Sid Lucero, Coco Martin, Yul Servo, Meryll Soriano and Jodi Sta. Maria-Lacson.

Some of his film credits include Condo, Adela, Imoral, Pisay, My Bestfriend's Girlfriend and in the upcoming Padyak.

On television, he was last seen in Komiks Presents: Mars Ravelo's Dragonna.

As a composer, Arnold has composed songs for Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid.

Boy Abunda reacts to Vicki Belo's insulting remark

Dra. Vicki Belo may have patched things up with Kris Aquino, but not in the soonest time with former endorser and friend Boy Abunda.

On Showbiz Central last Sunday, she had her first live interview with Mo Twister and to the surprise of many, she said something which was sort of a promo for her Belo Medical Group, as a joke but turned out to be an insulting remark to Boy Abunda.

“All I’d like to say is, if you want to look like Boy Abunda, go to Calayan, But if you want to look like Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, come to Belo," Dra. Vicki said.

It could have meant a different thing if Vicki said The Coverboys instead of Boy Abunda.

Boy wasn't able to react about it on his Sunday show The Buzz but on last night's edition of SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, he could not hide his dismay and disheartenment over Dra. Belo's statement.

“Vicki, if you are watching, alam mo kahit kailan, hindi ako namuhunan sa gandang panlabas dahil wala ako noon. Alam mo, namuhanan ako ng sipag, tiyaga, dasal. At Vicki, wala akong ilusyong maganda, wala akong ilusyon. Pero wala din sinuman ang may karapatang manlait sa aking pagkatao," said Boy.

“Last night, 10 o’clock in the evening I got a call from my nanay from Samar. Sabi niya ‘hindi lang ako mapakali, sagutin mo lang ito: mayroon ka bang ginawa kay Dr. Belo at ginagawa ka niyang katawa-tawa?’. Wala po akong ginawang masama kay Vicki Belo," he continued.

Boy was teary-eyed and visibly hurt by the insult.

"Vicki if you are watching, you know that I did not do anything bad to you to deserve this insult. Wala akong ginawa sa iyo," he added.

"Nay if you are watching, wala po akong ginagawa dahil narating ko itong maliit na ispasyo dito sa industriya na walang tinapakan.”

“At mga kaibigan, hindi po tayo kasi kailangang maging kasing-gwapo ni Dingdong para maging masaya at para maging mabuting tao”, Boy ended his speech and the camera caught him wiping his tears before the commercial gap.

Willie Revillame and Joey de Leon are up against each other once more in an exchange of side remarks in their respective noontime shows. It all started when Willie commented via a live phone patch on Wowowee where he indirectly accused Eat Bulaga of copying their show's opening format and he said that Wowowee is better than their rival show.

Joey reacted during the press con of his new show on GMA, Joey's Quirky World, "May sakit na nga, walanghiya pa rin.”

"Wag na nating pag-usapan ang walang kakuwenta-kuwentang bagay na ‘yan,” Joey said, but he already talked about it.

Geoff Eigenmann in GMA 7's Obra

Geoff Eigenmann, from the famous Eigenmann family and a known Star Magic artist, is reportedly doing a weekly drama series on GMA 7.

For the second season of Obra, Geoff is reportedly replacing JC De Vera, who is currently caught in the middle of a rift between his manager Anabelle Rama and GMA exec Wilma Galvante. (JC has been rumored to be transferring to ABS-CBN).

In Obra, he will be cast alongside Marvin Agustin, Maxene Magalona, Bianca King and Sheryl Cruz.

Geoff, who had hit teleseryes on ABS-CBN such as Hiram and Lobo, was supposed to star in Moon River with Maja Salvador, but what happened with that one? Maja is now seen on May Bukas Pa while Geoff is here transferring to GMA.

If that happens, it will be a Kapuso comeback for Geoff who already starred in GMA shows (Kirara; Kahit Kailan; Love to Love) before moving to ABS-CBN in 2004.

Tracing back long before his GMA days, Geoff was actually one of the Ang TV kids on ABS-CBN with his brother AJ Eigenmann.

Asian victories in the 2009 Oscar Awards

The 81st Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) night held last Sunday, February 22 (February 23 in Manila) was marked by victories of multi-cultural talents, not to mention the show's host Hugh Jackman, who is an Australian.

The winners in the 2009 Oscars were highly diverse as they come from different races, most especially the Asians who figured prominently in different categories.

Slumdog Millionaire, a British film shot in India and stars mostly Indian actors, won 8 of its 10 nominations, being the most awarded movie on this year's Oscars.

Indian composer Allah Rakha (A.R.) Rahman received two Oscar statuettes, Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song, for Slumdog Millionaire, with the last one shared with Indian lyricist Gulzar.

The Best Sound Mixing Award was handed out to another Indian, Resul Pookutty, alongside British mixers Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp.

The Best Foreign Language Film award was won by Japan for its entry Departures (produced by Yojiro Takita), which was the biggest surprise of the night, beating favorites such as Israel's Waltz with Bashir and France's The Class.

It was Japan's first ever Best Foreign Language Film award in the Academy history after being nominated 12 times in the said category.

During the 50's, Japan had 3 honorary Oscar awards.

La Maison En Petits Cubes by Kunio Kato, another Japanese entry, was honored with the Best Animated Short award.

Winning Best Director was British director Danny Bolye (his first) for Slumdog Millionaire while Kate Winslet, who is also British, won her first ever Oscar award after 6 nominations in 14 years.

The late Heath Ledger, an Australian actor, also won his first and last Oscar Best Supporting Actor trophy while Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was her female counterpart.

It was all first-time Oscar victory for the major winners (acting and directing), except for American actor Sean Penn, who won his 2nd Oscar already. He first won the Oscar in 2003 for Mystic River.

Germans also have the reason to celebrate with the victory of Toyland (Spielzeugland) in the Best Live Action Short category.

Piolo Pascual, harrassed by Ai-Ai delas Alas?

Fans of Piolo Pascual are crying foul over Ai-Ai delas Alas groping Piolo's "manhood" during the Pop Icons concert held last Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Araneta Coliseum.

According to his possessive fans, it was some kind of a sexual harrassment by Ai-Ai but as for Piolo, the victim, it was just for fun even it he was so shocked on stage about Ai-Ai's sexual advances.

Piolo was a lil embarrassed and even went down on his knees as if his "balls" were roughly groped by Ai-Ai.

“Ma’am Ai, pakasalan mo ako, ha!”, said Piolo on stage after the "dakma" incident while Ai-Ai was obviously delighted with what she did. “Ayoko pa! Masarap dito! Akala ko iiwas. Ang sarap! Grabe, ang sarap!” she said.

But before Piolo experienced Ai-Ai's venturous gesture that night, Erik Santos had to experience it first.

Naughty girl Ai-Ai also attempted twice to touch Piolo's birdie but she failed until she succeeded on her third try.

It was the scene-stealer during the Pop Icons concert and the crowd generally treated it as the biggest highlight of the evening.

Also drawing loudest cheers was Sam's sexy dance number, where he was seen simulating a "pumping" scene which was actually just a dance step.

Are you auditioning?

If the audition process is still the same as the previous seasons, here's a piece of advice:

Some are telling you to "be yourself" during the audition, but for Pinoy Big Brother, it's not always the case.

PBB Unit Head Laurenti Dyogi, who usually sits as one of the judges during the audition, looks at how striking you are, how you register well on the monitor and how you stand out in a group. That's based on my observation in the past auditions.

If you are an ordinary person and you would just like to dress up casually, with no traces of what your real personality is, I'm pretty much sure you'd go unnoticed.

Take the case of Fred Payawan during the PBB Teen Edition 1 audition, he was in his COCC (pre-CAT) Military Training attire when he auditioned that's why he stood out and was chosen. Fred was actually an incoming CAT officer than.

I also remember one guy, who was wearing a formal attire, dressed up like a company executive, was lucky enough to advance to the next rounds even if he only used it as props. That guy doesn't look good though.

If you are goodlooking or you have foreign blood, well I think they will look at how you carry yourself. Maybe they would like you to atleast be fashionable.

If in case you don't have the "artistahin" looks, maybe you really have to think of something for you to get noticed just like the "not so goodlooking" guy I mentioned above. But don't overly prepared as they don't like it that way.

Wearing a "tikbalang" or an "aswang" costume? Not a good idea.

This is the sad part of Pinoy Big Brother auditions. They don't get to know the person first. They rely on first impressions. I think it's better if they could have them submit resume first before moving on.

Jay Aquitania is a pedicab driver in 'Padyak'

After his amusing gay role in RoXXXanne, Jay Aquitania portrays a pedicab driver in the upcoming indie film Padyak (Pedicab) to be shown at the Robinson's Galleria IndieSine on March 4.

Jay has agreed to have a skin head in Padyak to fit himself for the role.

He also has some love scenes in the movie. Did he bare? I don't think so.













In Padyak, Jay gets a strong support from Emilio Garcia, Irma Adlawan, Rita Avila, Bodjie Pascua, Angel Jacob, Mcoy Fundales, Arnold Reyes, Katherine Luna, Hazel Ann Mendoza, Mercedes Cabral and Baron Geisler.

Padyak is written, produced and directed by Aloy Adlawan (Signos, Condo and Room Boy).

OPM MYX Charts: 'You Changed My Life' takes #1 spot

Last week, I said that Sarah Geronimo's You Changed My Life in A Moment might grab the top spot from Kyla's Heart to Heart on MYX's next OPM countdown.

And yes, it did happen as You Changed My Life is currently the #1 song on MYX OPM Weekly Charts, just four days before the regular showing of her movie with John Lloyd Cruz.

I think the song will stay for a long time there.

Kyla's song has slipped to #2 while Callalily's new entry entitled Hintay makes a strong debut at #5, posing big threat to Kyla and Sarah.

Other new entrants are And I Love You So by Regine Velasquez, Igiling by Janno Gibbs and another one from Kyla.

After staying 14 weeks in the countdown, the song Captured by Christian Bautista and Sitti has finally bowed down making Rico Blanco's Your Universe as the longest-staying song in the charts for now (14 weeks).

Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver advance to Top 12 of American Idol Season 8

On Americal Idol Season 8's episode last night (US), we saw three contestants advancing to the Final Top 12 and they are music teacher Danny Gokey(photo), young mom Alexis Grace and Oil Rig Roughneck worker Michael Sarver.

The three will next compete on March 10 along with the 9 other finalists, which are yet to be known on the next episodes.

Last Tuesday (for their performance night), Alexis Grace sang "Never Loved a Man" by Aretha Franklin while Danny Gokey gave his own version of Mariah Carey hit "Hero" and Michael Sarver performed Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Wanna Be."

Twelve contestants performed and with Gokey, Grace and Sarver moving on to the final Top 12, nine contestants have been out of the competition:

Danica Patrick's tattoo erased in Sports Illustrated's latest issue

American auto racing driver Danica Patrick has been creating loud buzz these days when her 'American flag' tattoo on her back was visibly erased (was airbrushed) in her photos for the latest swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated.

A Sports Illustrated representative defended that the move was not offensive to Danica Patrick because she knew all along that her tattoo was airbrushed for the said feature.

They did not cited the reason though why they have to do it for Danica's tattoo, when in fact, there's nothing wrong with having a tattoo.

Eight years ago, NBA's Hoop Magazine did the same thing for American basketball player Allen Iverson. But unlike Danica Patrick, Iverson had no knowledge of the "airbrush" and considered it as big insult to him.

Justin Chatwin as Goku in 'Dragonball Evolution'

Canadian actor Justin Chatwin plays Goku in the Hollywood movie adaptation of Japanese manga/anime series Dragon Ball.

The movie is entitled Dragonball Evolution and is slated to premiere in Japan on March 13, in UK on April 03 and in the US on April 8th.

Dragonball Evolution will be for sure Justin's claim to fame after portraying meaty roles in War of the Worlds and The Invisible.

I got to watch The Invisible last year and I already liked him there, so much more in his heroic role as Son Goku in Dragonball Evolution.

Also in the cast of the American Dragon Ball are James Marsters as Lord Piccolo, Jamie Chung as Chi Chi, Emmy Rossum as Bulma, Joon Park as Yamcha and Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi.

On Pinoy Fear Factor: Janna favored over Manuel?

Nag-succeed nga sina Janna Dominguez, Marion dela Cruz at most especially si Jommy Teotico na mapatalsik ang kanilang toughest competitor na si Manuel Chua.

On Pinoy Fear Factor's 3rd to the last episode, which was last night, ay natanggal na nga si Manuel.

Sa ultimo ronda de eliminacion (11th and final elimination round), Manuel failed to emerge on top of Janna, Marion and Jommy after na mag-register siya ng pinakamabagal na oras sa Stunt No.1 na pinamagatang "Enterado Vivo" or malibing nang buhay.

Had it been hindi naipit si Manuel ay siya sana ang magtatala nang pinakamabilis na oras na makabangon mula sa hukay.

Marion was the fastest in performing the stunt in a record-breaking time of 3:53, beating previous record of 4:09 by a contestant in Fear Factor Turkey.

Jommy followed next, then Janna in third with Manuel having the slowest time.

Pansin ko lang, parang pinaboratan ata si Janna na makapasok sa Top 3.

Bukod sa sinadyang siya ang ihuli sa nasabing stunt, nag-panic kasi ang Argentine crew nang matabunan si Janna sa hukay at tinulungan nila ito. Naghukay din ang mga naka-standby na crew sa pag-aakalang in danger si Janna.

Pero with that incident, natulungan nilang mabawasan ang hukay sa ibabaw ni Janna at napadali na ang paglabas nito.

She should have been given a penalty for that. Kasi ok naman siya at matatagalan pa siya if hindi binawasan nung Argentine Crew ung mga buhangin.

Though may mga nagsasabing hindi naman daw kasalanan ni Janna na tulungan siya ng mga Argentine, dapat may ginawa sila na hindi naman unfair para kay Manuel.

Mas interesting nga naman kung may babaeng makapasok sa Top 3, pero with Manuel out of the Top 3, parang nawalan na ng challenge. It could be more exciting and more challenging sana if Manuel will go on to the last two rounds.

Sa pagka-out ni Manuel, naplastikan naman ako kay Jommy. Bago ang elimination, tuwang-tuwa siya nang sabihin ng host na si Ryan Agoncillo na mukhang natagalan si Manuel sa hamon na 'yon at nung natanggal na si Manuel, biglang naging kaibigan ang turing ni Jommy kay Manuel, na kesyo nalulungkot din siya dahil may malalim na samahan na sila.

With Manuel's elimination, mas lalong tumitindi ang speculation na si Janna nga ang El Ultimo Participante ng Pinoy Fear Factor. Siya pa naman ang youngest participante at mas interesting if siya ang manalo as compared kay Manuel, na pinakamatanda sa grupo.

The rumor started during the victory party of Eva Fonda, kung saan kabilang si Janna. Ayon sa tsismis, nadulas daw si Cristine Reyes at nasabing si Janna ang nanalo sa Pinoy Fear Factor.

All of the participantes of Pinoy Fear Factor (excluding Phoemela Barranda) celebrated their Valentine's Day in Legazpi City at the Landco Pacific Mall.

According to those who were there, Manuel had the loudest cheers especially when he rendered a song number for them.

Justin Timberlake is GQ's Most Stylish Man in America

For its March 2009 issue, GQ Magazine listed down 10 of the Most Stylish Men in the America today and topping the list is pop heartthrob Justin Timberlake.

GQ cited down the reasons why Timberlake is on top of their "Stylish Men" list.

According to them, it's not because of Timberlake's effortless way to dress up or comport himself but it's because of the way he works at his style.


"Timberlake has a knack for targeting trends just before they crest. He might not spark them, but he’s the guy who broadcasts them—whom we point to for making, say, hats popular again, or for making suits look like they were meant to be worn with sneakers, or for wearing a beard that’s not quite a beard per se but is pretty much what every guy at the club wears these days.

Manuel Chua willing to do kissing scene with Bebe Gandanghari

If Bebe Gandanghari is looking for a leading man in his upcoming projects, why not have Manuel Chua, who admitted on a tabloid that he's willing to do a kissing scene with him?

On today's issue of popular tabloid Abante-Tonite, Manuel Chua Jr of Pinoy Fear Factor is open about the idea of doing a love scene or a kissing scene with a man, may he be straight or a homo like Bebe.

“Opo, sige. Okey lang po kung si Binibi­ning Gandanghari. Why not?” he said.

The question was asked since Manuel is hoping to become an action star someday or doing kontrabida roles after his stint in Pinoy Fear Factor, which ends this Friday.

He also wants to try hosting if given a chance.

As for the other three (remaining) Pinoy Fear Factor participantes, Jommy Teotico and Marion dela Cruz also expressed their desire to venture into acting. Jommy, I think, is better off as a sexy daring actor while Marion can do comedic roles.

Janna Dominguez, who already had a hosting job in Wowowee and was introduced in Eva Fonda, she will have her movie debut in Laurenti Dyogi film entitled And I Love You So topbilled by Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay.

Who among Manuel, Jommy, Marion and Janna will be El Ultimo Participante in Pinoy Fear Factor?

My bet is still Manuel. But there's a rumor spreading out that Janna is the winner in the said hit reality show. Well, let's just find out on Friday.

Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal's 21st millionaire is Mykiru's former classmate

For its third season alone, Kapamilya Deal or No Deal has produced already a total of 9 millionaires beating out the show's previous record of 8 millionaires during Season 2. (They had 4 during the 1st season)

And last night, the show had its 21st millionaire in the person of a Bicolano aspiring chef Christopher Viray (photo), who happens to be my classmate and batchmate in highschool.

I am more than happy to know that someone in our class has become a millionaire in less than 10 years since we graduated from highschool.

In the history of Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, Chris or Tophe holds the record for winning the 2nd highest amount (P1,600,000) and also the first contestant to have accepted the banker's highest offer ever.

Even though Christopher grabbed the offer over his briefcase which contained the 4 million pesos, it's already a life-changing experience for someone like him who led a simple life in the province.

New millionaire Tophe, whose birthday falls on Christmas Day and a devotee of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, plans to use his winnings in putting up his desired business someday.

Tophe looks bigger now but wayback in highschool years, he was one of the campus heartthrobs.

On a personal note, one of my fondest memories with Tophe is during our sophomore year, when I was a transferee then and he was the first guy classmate to approach and introduce himself to me.

During college, Tophe was also the person who encouraged me to apply as a service crew at Jollibee, where he was a Counter Crew. He referred me and maybe, he's one of the reasons why I got hired.

And after college, I once experienced riding on the back of his motorcycle as he and some other night riders went around the city streets for a motorcycle race.

Now that he's a millionaire, I think it's just fair if he could host our batch's reunion in the future. Haha! What do you think Tophe?
