MMFF 2011 official entries announced

The 8 official entries for the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2011) happening this December were announced today, June 17, 2011, by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

And just like in MMFF 2010, the "Kings" and "Queens" will still be part of MMFF 2011. I'm talking about Vic Sotto, Bong Revilla, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Kris Aquino.

And the excitement doesn't end up there: husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos, whose movies "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" were the Festival Topgrosser during MMFF 2006 and MMFF 2007 respectively, are very much back in the festival with "My Househusband".

Expect the toughest box-office battle this MMFF 2011!

Guns and Roses pilot episode beats Amaya in nationwide ratings

"Guns and Roses" starring Robin Padilla and Bea Alonzo had a successful pilot last night, June 6, by posting a rating of 29.9% beating its rival show, the Marian Rivera-epicserye "Amaya", based on the data provided by Kantar Meda / TNS.

It ranked 2nd over-all, placing behind "100 Days To Heaven" with 32.9% rating.

ABS-CBN's rating figures last Monday were so much lower than last week, especially when compared with last Friday's ratings when "Mara Clara" aired its finale and scored its highest rating ever, with 43.4%.

With its new timeslot, there was a big drop on the ratings of "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin".

It usually had a 30%-plus ratings and ranked in the Top 3 when it was airing right after "100 Days To Heaven". Take for example during last week:

May 30 - 33.6% (2nd)
May 31 - 32.7% (3rd)
June 1 - 32.6% (3rd)
June 2 - 33.5% (2nd)
June 3 - 37.1% (3rd)

But last Monday, when it was moved to a later timeslot to accomodate the entry on primetime of "Guns and Roses", it only rated 25.8% (ranked 4th) and TV Patrol even had a higher rating.

"Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!" Box-Office Gross: P21.89 million in 2 days

Star Cinema and M-Zet co-prod "Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!" has been showing strong in theaters since its opening day last Black Saturday, April 23.

Box Office Mojo tabulation for the period April 20-24 shows that Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! earned P21.89 million on its first 2 days.

That's quite a huge figure for a 2-day gross, and it's already an indication of a box-office success for the movie.

Probably by now, May 6, the movie, which stars Vic Sotto and Bea Alonzo, is already closer to a hundred million.

Meanwhile, "Catch Me I'm In Love" starring Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson has already wrapped up with a total accumulated gross of P120.21 million after 5 weeks while the Robin Padilla-Mariel Rodriguez movie "Tum: My Pledge of Love" is still struggling in the box-office with only P5.16 million in 3 weeks.

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez movie 'Tum: My Pledge of Love' hit or flop?

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez 's first ever movie team-up is reportedly not a hit, with only less then P15,000 ticket sales in some SM Cinemas.

That's according to Edgar Cruz in his article posted this morning on Stir.ph.

"Tum: My Pledge of Love" which opened yesterday reportedly earned P8,000 at SM Mega Mall, P11,000 at SM North EDSA, P14,000 at SM Fairview and P14,000 at SM Mall of Asia.

However, the figures coming from Cruz are as of 3PM yesterday and to be positive, more movie-goers might have watched the movie after 3 PM or on the evening.

Let's just wait for the official figures to know how much the movie earned on its opening day.

Probably the movie only earned less than 10 million yesterday, because if it was above P10M, Star Cinema Booking and Distribution would have announced it last night.

Just like what they did for 'Catch Me I'm In Love', Star Cinema announced right away via ABS-CBN's late-night show "SNN" that the movie grossed P15million during its first day.

But a high box-office figure isn't expected, 'coz as of today, April 7, "Tum: My Pledge Of Love" is showing only in less than 50 theaters nationwide, 22 of which are from Metro Manila.

"Tum: My Pledge of Love" which is directed by Robin himself has been Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board and Rated GP by the MTRCB.

The full official trailer for the movie 'Tum: My Pledge of Love' has just been released. Watch it!


'Tum: My Pledge Of Love' is the first ever movie team-up of 6-month husband-and-wife Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez.

It also stars Ejay Falcon and Queenie Padilla.

Robinhood, Robin himself, directed the film, which will be released by Star Cinema and will hit theaters on April 6, 2011.

The movie has been Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and received a General Patronage rating.

Robin and Mariel admit they got married at the Taj Mahal in India last August 19

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez have finally admitted that they got married in India.



On SNN last night, which was actually an ANC interview with the newly-weds Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez, the couple admitted to The
World Tonight anchor Tina Monzon-Palma that they got married at the Taj Mahal in India last August 19, 2010.

That confirms rumors during the time Robin and Mariel came back from India, especially when Robin was caught on video introducing Mariel as his new wife during their visit in India.

Robin Padilla - Mariel Rodriguez Wedding Photo | They got married in Igorot way!

I'm kinda shocked that Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez are already married.



As reported by ABS-CBN News, the wedding happened last Monday, September 13, 2010, in Baguio City, as confirmed by an Ibaloi priest
who initiated the wedding ceremony.

And the report said that Robin wanted to prove to Mariel that he's really an Igorot, so he married her in an Igorot way.

After the Igorot wedding, Robin then married Mariel the same day in another ceremony, this time by a pastor.

But I don't know how the Muslim people will react on Robin's wedding. Robin is a known Muslim and some say his wedding in Igorot, especially that
they had to kill a pig and use its blood for the ceremony, was against Muslim tradition.

But I feel happy for them despite it being too fast.

Robin and Mariel started to like each other in May while hosting Wowowee. And in July, both have started to express their love for each
other in public.

It was also in July when Mariel was seen wearing a P1.2M-worth diamond
ring, which is now very clear as the two's engagement ring.

Last August, the couple went to India where they also reportedly got married.

Rumored Pregnant! Mariel Rodriguez takes a break, flies to Hong Kong

"Buntis ba si Mariel Rodriguez?"

That's what everyone's asking now after Mariel Rodriguez made a shocking decision of taking a leave from work and have a long vacation.

On Pilipinas Win Na Win earlier, Mariel was missing already and that's because she filed an indefinite leave and left the country for a Hong Kong trip.

And on SNN tonight, Mariel was interviewed before she left that she's also planning to go to Singapore, India or anywhere she wants to.

We can't blame people to conclude Mariel as pregnant because she made a very surprising decision.

And it seems like she's not alone in her Asian escapade. Is Robin Padilla, her rumored boyfriend, vacationing with her now?

Last week, Robin also left Pilipinas Win Na Win temporarily because he has to observe Ramadan.

Robin Padilla starts Ramadan 2010 fasting | Mariel Rodriguez fasting too?

Today, August 11, the Muslim's Ramadan 2010 officially starts and for sure, actor-host Robin Padilla has already started his fasting for Ramadan.

The Ramadan 2010 will continue until September 8 and during that time, Robin will observe fasting. Fasting times vary from this day onwards depending on the sunrise, but usually, it begins 4:30 in the morning and ends 6:00 P.M.

(Please just correct me if I'm wrong)

During those times, Robin won't eat, drink nor smoke and would offer prayers.

He will also refrain from doing sexual activities during fasting times. Kaya ni utol 'yan!

Last Saturday, Robin announced on Pilipinas Win Na Win that he had to temporarily leave them show to observe Ramadhan.

Co-host Kris Aquino did mention that during Ramadan, Muslim men should keep away from sexy girls.

Oh no, Mariel Rodriguez is a sexy girl, does it mean she won't be seeing Robin during this time?

Pwede naman siguro, as long as it's not between the fasting hours.

Last night, before Robin observes Ramadan, he was spotted attending the surprise birthday party for Mariel. (Or did he organize it?) So for sure, he had lots of food, drinks and Mariel moments that night.

But how true that Mariel will also observe Ramadan 2010? She's not Muslim but she reportedly will do so for Robin. It must be love!

If that's true, that would just spark rumors that the two are already married, which has already been denied by the two last Saturday on ELive by Mariel's manager Boy Abunda on SNN the other night.

Some fans have also noticed Mariel not tweeting that much on Twitter lately which was not the case before. One fan asks, "pinagbabawalan na ba?"

Mariel's last tweet more than a day ago said that her Uber Twitter is messed up that's why she's not tweeting that much.

On ELive: Robin Padilla declares his love for Mariel Rodriguez

It was "kiligness" to the highest level when Robin Padilla confessed his true feelings for Mariel Rodriguez on ELive today.

Mariel was a bit feeling awkward while interviewing Robin but she
obviously felt like heaven as "Idol" declared on national t.v. that he
loves Mariel, who happens to be celebrating her birthday on ELive.

"Hindi ako nagsisinungaling. Totoo 'to Mariel. Kung sagutin mo ako o hindi, ingatan mo ang singsing na 'yan.
Hindi ako nagsisinungaling sa 'yo Mariel (dahil) MAHAL KITA" Robin said.

And Mariel was crying while hearing those words from Robin. She obviously feels the same way.

That was actually the last part of the interview and Mariel later said that it was her best birthday celebration ever on ELive. (It was actually one of ELive's best episodes ever!)

Earlier in the interview, Robin kept on telling Mariel, "Wala akong
sabit", probably because Mariel still has doubts over Robin's real
status.

It was also the most perfect time to answer the issue that they're secretly married. Robin said, "'Yung sa kasalan po, hindi po namin itatago sa inyo...kung papayag si Mariel na pakasalan ako."

They also talked about the reported P2M-worth diamond ring in which Robin has admitted that it indeed came from him. Robin said it was her gift for Mariel and even compared her to a diamond. "Isa kang diamond na
dapat ingatan. Ang iyong kinang ay kailanma'y 'di kukupas."

Kinilig ba kayo? Ako, oo! Just like those who have made "Mariel" among the Top 10 trending topics on Twitter right after that interview. They for sure felt the same way.

Robin and Mariel also announced that they indeed have a movie coming up and shooting starts when Robin comes back after a long "Ramadan" leave.

Robin Padilla leaving Pilipinas Win Na Win, denies any problem with Kris Aquino

Robin Padilla has announced on Pilipinas Win Na Win today that he's leaving the show.

Not permanently, but only temporary as Robin, who's Muslim, will leave the show to observe Ramadan.

"Sa amin pong mga Muslim, bawal po ang magtrabaho tuwing Ramadan," he said during the show's opening part.

Before Robin's official announcement today, PEP already reported about Robin leaving the show but according to its report, Robin allegedly is only using "Ramadan" as the reason why he is about to quit the show, but the real reason is, still according to PEP, Robin allegedly is unhappy working with Kris Aquino in the show.

The PEP report even cited an unnamed showbiz insider telling them that Kris and Robin have conflicting hosting styles on Pilipinas Win Na Win, but both have dominant personalities.

Robin has denied it also today. "Wala pong nagaganap na drama rito sa aming programa. At wala po akong tampo kay Kris," he told the viewers.

I almost believed that PEP report because as what I've observed, Kris is owning the show, from opening to the closing part of the show and at times, upstaging Robin especially in their Open Susi Me segment. She however adds life to the show as the Kris we used to know.

But with Robin denying any conflict with Kris, I have to believe that everything's fine between them.

Pilipinas Win Na Win's star-studded premiere, July 31, 2010

Twelve hours from now, the newest noontime show "Pilipinas Win Na Win" will premiere on ABS-CBN.

The grand rehearsals were made today (Friday) and hosts Robin Padilla and Kris Aquino are now ready to bring joy, hope and excitement to the Filipino viewers.

"Wowowee" bids goodbye, trends on Twitter for the last time

"Wowowee" has aired its last episode today, July 31, 2010, and for the
last time, it was trending on Twitter, an indication of how Filipino viewers will miss the show.

It was a trending topic for atleast 2 hours and browsing at the tweets, most of them expressed sadness that the 5-year-old noontime show has come to an end.

The Wowowee hosts led by Mariel Rodriguez were very emotional on the
show's final episode. They were all crying as they said their farewell
messages.

In behalf of the hosts and the program, Mariel thanked former host Willie Revillame for his selfless dedication and devotion in making
Wowowee a success.

I was expecting a video message from Willie but it didn't happen.

As Wowowee ends, I've realized that it could have stayed longer if some people didn't claim it as Willie's program.

As they say, Wowowee is Willie and Willie is Wowowee thus there's no
more reason for it to stay on air, when in fact as Willie repeatedly said, "ang Wowowee ay programa ng bawat Pilipino".

And also, if ABS-CBN didn't name it after Willie, then anybody could host it and it should have continued with or without Willie.

On the positive side, a new and refreshing show will start tomorrow, July 31. And ABS-CBN probably has learned from its mistake already by
not deriving the program's name to the host's name.

It's called "Pilipinas Win Na Win" to be hosted by Kris Aquino and Robin Padilla plus Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion and Pokwang.

And at least this time, none of them could claim it as their own. Even if Kris or Robin leaves the show permanently (na 'wag naman sana), anyone could
replace them.

"Pilipinas Win na Win" to replace "Wowowee" starting July 31

ABS-CBN has finally decided: remove "Wowowee" and replace it with "Pilipinas Win Na Win" [formerly Pilipinas For The Win (FTW)].

Starting July 31, "Pilipinas Win na Win" will take over the noontime slot of "Wowowee" which will have its final episode on Friday, July 30, which incidentally is the exact date of the 31st Anniversary of "Eat Bulaga!" in the rival network.

That's what has been announced on TV Patrol earlier and Pilipinas Win na Win will be hosted by Robin Padilla and Kris Aquino.

Joining them are 3 Wowowee hosts: Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and Mariel Rodriguez.

It's not the first time that Kris and Robin will be working together. They starred together in the ABS-CBN sitcom "Pwedeng-Pwede" and in the action flick "You and Me Against The World".

But of course, some viewers are more interested to see Robin and Mariel together again on TV after their "kilig" tandem on Wowowee.

This news of Wowowee being axed disproves rumors that Willie is set to have a grand comeback in the show this July 31.

But Willie's still gonna be back on TV via a new program which according to ABS-CBN, it will be revealed "sa takdang panahon".

Wowowee has been on air for more than 5 years and successfully lorded the ratings charts. It also gave "Eat Bulaga!" a good competition.

With Pilipinas Win na Win, ABS-CBN will go back to zero.

Sarah's fans mad at Toni? | Toni & Mariel no longer friends?

The Buzz host Toni Gonzaga is being talked about now because of the
comments she made last Sunday regarding Sarah Geronimo.

The issue was about Cristine Reyes and Rayver Cruz who are rumored having romantic relationship, but both insisted that they're just
friends.

And when Toni was about to react on the issue, she dragged Sarah Geronimo into the issue by concluding that Sarah's still hurtin' over
Rayver, referring to Sarah's statement to the press before about the
pain of being denied by a boyfriend.

However, Sarah clarified that the statement was only an opinion when she was asked about couple John Lloyd Cruz & Shaina Magdaya, and had nothing to do with her own experience.

Sarah made that clarification on the same show the other Sunday, that's why fans of Sarah were shocked when Toni bluntly insinuated on The Buzz that Sarah is still affected with her breakup with Rayver.

Because of that, some Sarah fans reportedly are disappointed with
Toni's remarks. One fan said on Twitter: "I think Toni is being rude
to Sarah last Sunday on The Buzz. I hope she'll be more careful to make accusations that."

On Youtube, where a video of that episode has been uploaded, someone made this comment: "As a fan of Sarah, I was disappointed with Toni in this segment. Sarah has repeatedly denied any romantic involvement with Rayver. In Toni's statement, she is insinuating otherwise. All
the while I thought she's Sarah's friend. Hindi pala."

Incidentally, last Sunday, July 25, was Sarah's 22nd birthday. That's
why some fans are saddened that The Buzz didn't even greet Sarah and
they ask: "'Yun ba ang pa-bday nila kay Sarah?"

However, on that same episode, Toni was completely the opposite with regards to the issue on Mariel Rodriguez who allegedly received a ring worth P1.2M from Robin Padilla.

Toni was so silent and the only one of the 4 hosts who didn't give her opinion. She was also caught on cam not listening to Boy Abunda, who
was talking about Mariel and the only thing she said was, "Ah talaga?"

Is thera a gap now between Toni and Mariel because of Robin?

Remember, Robin
was supposed to have Toni in his Star Cinema movie but it didn't push
through, because reportedly, there was a misunderstanding between Robin's side and that of Toni.

There are also rumors that Mariel was the reason of the cancellation because Robin wants Mariel as leading lady for his movie.

Those are unconfirmed, but with Toni's opting not to react on Mariel-Robin issue was an indication that there's indeed something going on among the three of them.

Also on July 11 episode of The Buzz, Toni said to Piolo Pascual, "Ikaw naman talaga ang dream leading man.", which is in contrary to what she said before that Robin is her dream leading man.

3R for Mariel Rodriguez: Robin Padilla + a Ring = Romance?

It's official! Today, July 18, is Mariel Rodriguez's Declaration Day
of her true feelings for Robin Padilla.

She has shocked her more than 200k Twitter followers today with these tweets:


It was posted by Mariel early in the morning today, so that could mean
she was with Robin last night.

And notice also that the name of Robin is capitalized in the 2nd
tweet. What does it mean? Probably Robin is now a big part of her life or she's proud to shout Robin's name to the world as her new boyfriend.

But on her The Buzz guesting this afternoon, Mariel was quick to deny that they're lovers and insisted they're just friends.

Host KC Concepcion was able to notice Mariel's new ring on her finger,
and asked if it's an engagement ring. Mariel said no, but her
facial expression and gestures were as if she was hiding
something.

Oh my! I would like to believe that the ring came from Robin and it could mean that the two are romancing each other now.

It's indeed a triple R for Mariel now: Robin, a ring and the romance.
And wait, there's another R - Rockwell!

The two were spotted together in Rockwell lately with no one else, but just the two of them. Mariel admitted to ABS-CBN news that they indeed dated at Rockwell and watched "Knight And Day".

Toni - Robin movie cancelled? Who and what caused it?

Toni Gonzaga has hinted of a possible cancellation of her dream movie with Robin Padilla on TV Patrol last night.

Toni didn't mention the reason but a lot of rumors are already coming out as to why it's most likely to be cancelled.

Rumor #1: ABS-CBN and Star Cinema are building up Robin-Mariel Rodriguez tandem instead, both on TV and in movies.

Rumor #2: Robin and Toni will do a TV show first before the movie.

Rumor #3: Robin is set to host a noontime show and will cause conflict in schedule.

Rumor #4: Problem in the production. Bb. Joyce Bernal has lost
interest in directing the movie.

Rumor #5: Misunderstanding between Toni and Robin because the former didn't agree to have kissing/love scenes with the latter.

Now, which rumor would you like to believe?

Fans of Toni reportedly will do anything possible so that the movie
will push through.

Toni for sure will speak more about it on The Buzz, where she will be replacing Kris Aquino starting this Sunday.

Palibhasa Sikat: Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez

ABS-CBN took notice of the "kiligness" between Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez while hosting Wowowee before that a sitcom entitled "Palibhasa Sikat" is being cooked for them by the network.

Or is it the other way around? They were sweet to each other in Wowowee because they have an upcoming sitcom, which was already planned way before Wowowee?

I think I have to disregard the second one. It was an accidental thing that Robin and Mariel had a strong romantic chemistry on TV and to take advantage of it, they're now paired up in another show.

Robin has expressed her admiration to Mariel and with a new sitcom, it's possible that Mariel will eventually fall for Robin. (Kung si Sharon Cuneta nga noon, na-inlove kay Robin, si Mariel pa kaya?)

And who would have thought that at the age of 42, Robin will still have a loveteam which is named like Kimerald and Melason. Robin and Mariel loveteam is called "MaBin" and if you're a fan of them, you're a "Mabinian".

A teaser for "Palibhasa Sikat" featuring Robin Padilla is already being shown on ABS-CBN.

The sitcom officially marks Binoe's comeback in the Kapamilya Network after staying with GMA 7 for 2 years.

Robin's supposed return to ABS-CBN was when he was offered a role in "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" but he refused it. It was rumored that he wasn't ready to play a father to a grown-up star like Kim Chiu. The role eventually went to Gabby Concepcion.
