PBB Celebrity Edition 2 Updates: The deepening romance between Mariel & Jon

fanart courtesy of brokensonnet, abs-cbn forums

Kain kain, tawanan, kulitan.

AKON visits Pinoy Big Brother house

After his successful concert at the Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines Thursday night, R&B and Hip Hop singer AKON rushed to the country's hit reality show Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 the next day and shared a little but precious time to be a celebrity houseguest.

The 11 celebrity housemates of Pinoy Big Brother were in great awe to see the famous international artist inside the Big Brother house.

However, only 5 of them were given the chance to meet him face to face inside the confession room, wile the other 5 just had themselves satisfied at first seeing Akon via the monitor.

The lucky housemates who talked to AKON in person were Mariel Rodriguez, Victor Basa, Jon Avila, Donald Geisler and Gladys Guevarra. It was their prize after winning the charade game they had yesterday.

In the end, the losing team composed of Yayo Aguila, Ruben Gonzaga, Riza Santos, Will Devaughn and Baron Geisler were still given the chance to meet AKON but only up to 10 seconds.

AKON, who has top-charting hits like Don't Matter, Smack That, I Wanna Love You and Sorry...Blame It On Me, is the very first international artist to grace the Pinoy Big Brother house.

ABS-CBN wins over GMA in the 12th Asian TV Awards

Even if GMA Network, Inc. had more nominations than rival ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. for the 12th Asian Television Awards, it was the latter who took the lead during the awards night held Thursday, November 29, 2007, at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore.

Back in September, these two Philippine giant networks have been boasting about their respective nominations. GMA had 10 nominations while ABS-CBN had only 4. APT Entertainment also snatched one nod for Dennis Trillo as Best Drama Performance by an Actor for 'Unico Hijo', however the said show was also aired on GMA. Over-all, Philippines had 15 nominations in the said prestigious award-giving body.

Thursday night, amidst the latest national/political crisis the Philippines has, this award-hungry country took home seven honors (including runners up and highly commended citations) out of its 15 nominations.

Out of 4 nominations, ABS-CBN took home 4 awards: Best Drama Performance by an Actress Gina Pareno for her performance in 'Maalaala Mo Kaya', Best News Programme for Bandila, Highly Commended Game Show for Pilipinas, Game ka na ba? and Highly Commended News Programme for TV Patrol World.

On one hand, GMA 7 won only 2 out of its 11 nominations: Best Current Affairs Programme for Reporter's Notebook and Runner Up Comedy Performance by an Actor for Michael V.

ABS-CBN almost bagged the Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year Award by being a runner up to Singapore's MediaCorp TV. who won the said highest award. Discovery Network Asia was also adjudged Cable/Satellite Network of the Year.

Bandila's victory as Best News Programme is its 2nd international recognition on its over a year of existence. It was a finalist in the International Emmy Awards 2007.

    Congratulations to the winners!

Top 10 Most Shocking Hollywood Secrets

Spider-Man Tobery Maguire has a secret.

'In Touch Weekly' magazine has compiled ten of the most shocking secrets in Hollywood.

See the list and get ready to be shocked!

    10. Reese Witherspoon

Reese’s brother was arrested for sexual battery

On October 5, 2002, Reese Witherspoon’s older brother, John, was arrested after he entered a Nashville neighbor’s home and tried to undress and kiss a woman while she slept. John, 34, pled guilty to lesser charges, and according to his attorney, he “took her word for it,” because he was drunk and blacked out on the night in question. Reese, 31, helped her brother after he finished his two years on probation by making him her personal assistant on the ironically titled film Our Family Trouble.

    9. Gavin Rossdale

Gavin had a secret love child

In 2004, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, 42, were happily married and planning for a baby. But that October, Gwen got shocking news — Gavin’s 15-year-old goddaughter was actually his love child with former flame Pearl Lowe. “He stopped returning my calls,” Pearl says. DNA tests confirmed that Daisy Lowe was in fact his daughter. Gwen, 38, was said to be devastated, but soon after announced she was pregnant with her and Gavin’s baby Kingston, now 18 months. “You get through the rocky times,” Gwen has said.

    8. Michelle Williams

Michelle’s dad faces tax evasion charges

Michelle Williams has been estranged from her father, Larry, since she was 15, but she’s still upset that the IRS charged the 64-year-old stock market trader with evading $1.5 million in taxes after he flew to Australia. “It’s a strange thing having one’s father locked up, but you get used to it,” Michelle, 27, says. When he was arrested in May 2006, it wasn’t lost on Michelle that her dad was detained in her ex Heath Ledger’s native country. “Of all places,” she says. “It’s like, could you pick somewhere else to be arrested?”

    7. Woody Harrelson

Woody’s father was a convicted hit man

Woody Harrelson was only 7-years-old when his father, Charles, killed a Texas businessman and was put in jail. “I don’t feel he was much of a father,” says Woody. “He took no part in my upbringing.” Later, while Woody was attending college, his father was arrested again for the murder of a federal judge. Charles denied it and appealed to his son for support. “He was no saint,” says Woody, 46. “But I think he’s innocent of that killing.” Charles died in March while serving two life sentences.

    6. Sara Evans

Sara claimed her husband had kinky desires

When country singer Sara Evans’ marriage to Craig Schelske fell apart last year, she aired his dirty laundry in court papers. Sara, 36, alleged that her husband of 13 years “kept a list of ads seeking casual and ménage-a-trois sex and had nude photos of himself indulging in sexual acts with other women,” on their home computer. Sara’s biggest concern was that their children Avery, 8, Olivia, 4, and Audrey, 3, were being exposed to the smutty shots. After Craig made shocking claims about Sara, they both agreed to drop their allegations and resolve their divorce “amicably.”

    5. Tobey Maquire

Tobey’s dad was a bank robber

Growing up, Tobey Maguire’s home life was far from perfect. At the age of 3, his parents split and he was forced to live with other family members. Then, in 1993, when Tobey was 18, his down-on-his-luck dad, Vincent, a cook, robbed a California bank and served two years in prison. Says a family friend of the shocking situation: “Tobey is aware his dad made a rash decision which cost him dearly. He was broke and has been a model citizen ever since.” Tobey, 32, learned a valuable lesson. “Growing up the way I did, I have a very serious ambition to make money and have some security,” he says.

    4. Orlando Bloom

Orlando didn’t know who his real dad was

Growing up in Canterbury, Kent, England, Orlando Bloom believed that author and civil rights activist Harry Bloom was his father. Harry died when Orlando was only 4, and family friend Colin Stone became his legal guardian. It wasn’t until Orlando was a teenager that his mom, Sonia, admitted that Colin was actually his biological dad. “As long as I can remember, Colin has been a good friend, but I always thought Harry was my real father,” says Orlando, 30. “I don’t remember much about Harry, but my mother always speaks highly of him,” he says.

    3. Halle Berry

    Halle’s dad was abusive

Halle Berry’s parents divorced when she was a toddler. But her mom, Judith, invited her dad, Jerome, to move back into their Ohio home when Halle was 10 because she felt her daughters needed a father figure. Halle calls that year “the worst of my life,” because of Jerome’s violent behavior. “He abused my mother and my sister Heidi constantly,” she admits. Although she wasn’t harmed, “I was dealing with a lot of guilt,” Halle, 41, says.

    2. Charlize Theron

    Charlize’s mom killed her father

On June 21, 1991, Charlize Theron’s dad returned to their South African home after a long night of drinking. “My dad had a disease,” Charlize, 32, says. “He was an alcoholic.” Charlize says her dad never physically harmed her, but admits “he was a verbal abuser.” So when he fired a shotgun into the then 15-year-old’s bedroom, her mom, Gerda, shot and killed her husband. The court ruled it self-defense. “If my daughter was in the same situation, I’d do the same thing,” admits Charlize.

    1. Nicole Richie

Nicole’s real dad was in Lionel’s band

Nicole Richie has always known Lionel and Brenda Richie as her mom and dad. But her real parents were actually members of Lionel’s band, who gave her up when she was 3-years-old. “My parents were friends with Lionel and they trusted that they would be better able to provide for me,” reveals Nicole, 26. So the Simple Life star — who was officially adopted when she was 9, a year before Lionel and Brenda divorced — was raised in an upscale LA suburb, where she met best friend Paris Hilton and dealt with her famous dad’s constant absence. “When Nicole came along, I was gone,” Lionel, 58, admits. Though her teens were rocky — she went to rehab for heroin addiction — Nicole is now very close with Brenda and Lionel.

Sen. Trillanes and rebel soldiers in Manila Peninsula

Found this on the site: SUNDALO, tagapagtanggol ng Pilipino
    November 29, 2007

SENATOR ANTONIO TRILLANES, BRIG. GEN. DANILO LIM, MAGDALO SOLDIERS, THEIR GUARDS AND THE PEOPLE ARE NOW IN MANILA PENINSULA.

Bishops Yniguez, Tobias and Labayen, former Vice President Teofisto Guingona, former PNP Chief General Ramon Montano, former UP President and Laban ng Masa Leader Prof Francisco Nemenzo are now with the patriotic soldiers in Makati

Today, we address all and decent Filipinos, to announce that NOW is the time to end the sufferings and miseries inflicted upon us by the illegitimate Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Government and start a new life and a new Philippines.

    The die is cast.

Pursuant to our constitutional mandate as “protector of the people and the State,” and by this act, the patriotic officers and men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, supported by the masses of our people and the various political forces, give substance to the constitutional provision which says, “The Philippines is a democratic and republican state. Sovereignty resides in the people, and all government authority emanates from them.” Thus, we take the fateful step of removing Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from the Presidency and undertake the formation of a new government.

Mrs Arroyo had occupied the Presidency under a questionable mandate, publicly disputed by the vast majority of Filipinos. She stole the Presidency from President Joseph Ejercito Estrada through unconstitutional and deceitful means, and later, manipulated the results of the 2004 elections to perpetuate herself in power.

We have individually and collectively tried all means to resolve this legitimacy issue through the normal electoral, judicial and congressional processes. But Mrs Arroyo used naked power through the issuance of EO 464 and other executive proclamations, and the sheer weight of numbers to paralyze the impeachment process—procured at the people’s great expense – to frustrate us at every turn.

After all these had failed, our people tried to air their grievances in peaceful street assemblies. They thought they were exercising a combination of constitutional rights, which no official or agency of government may legally abridge. But they were stopped and dispersed violently with water cannons from firemen and truncheons from the police.

The abuses of her government continue. The deliberate refusal or failure of the dubious leaders to investigate and prosecute the people responsible for the scandalous “Hello Garci” electoral cheating, the Jocjoc Bolante multi million peso fertilizer scam, the IMPSA bribery scandal, the “Jose Pidal” and the jueteng scandals involving billions of public funds, the Northrail Project scandal, the Venable contract scandal, the NBN scandal, wholesale bribery of congressmen and governors in Malacanang, as well as the unabated and resolved extrajudicial killings of citizens, particularly journalists and members of the judiciary, and the use of military and police officers for some unlawful missions, among others, are clear proof her failure of good and decent governance. There are numerous illegal and immoral activities and transactions conducted by this government with impunity that betray the citizens and the State of their pristine right to exist as a people with decency, dignity and integrity.

With all the avenues closed by the use of naked force, no other means remain but for the officers and men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to exercise their constitutional mandate take the side of the sovereign Filipino people against the illegitimate ‘president’.

We beg your indulgence and apologize for any temporary disruptions attendant to fighting this righteous cause. We are confident that the will of the sovereign people will prevail. The end of the corrupt and vicious government and its bogus leaders is long overdue.

We support the political and economic reforms that will be initiated by the new government, regardless of the personal cost it may impose upon each one of us.

We, therefore, call on all our people and all the governments around the world to give the constitutional rescue initiated by our patriotic brothers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police a chance to work.

To the task of organizing a new government, and pursuing a program of total and no-nonsense reform we commit our full support.

We shall do whatever we can do to prevent any backsliding to the corruption and abuse of power of the immediate past, and advance the cause of truth, freedom, justice, peace and progress for all Filipinos.

God bless the Filipino people, Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

Metro Manila Film Festival 2007 Trailer: Resiklo

Former Eat Bulaga host Gladys Guevarra inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house

She went to the States with her boyfriend pero bumalik sya pansamantala noong November 16.

Ethel and Mariel were former Extra Challenge hosts and Megan Young was from Starstruck.

Kunsabagay, Toni Gonzaga, the host, was also a former Kapuso talent. Not a big deal though.

As for other updates: Will Devaughn has been stripped off the title as the Head of Household (HOH) because according to Kuya, Baron Geisler is the real winner, based on Kuya's review of the game conducted last Monday.

Watch Gladys's entrance inside the Big Brother house:
