Bicolana beauty Jane Riel Bañares (candidate #28) has won the coveted crown of Mutya ng Pilipinas - International 2009 during the grand coronation night held on Sunday evening, August 9, at Juan Angara Memorial Sports Complex (Baler Sports Complex) in the Province of Aurora.
Jane represented Legazpi City and she is a newly licensed nurse who just passed the Nursing Board Exams last June 2009.
She won a cash prize of 200,000 pesos and a special award for Best Gown.
In October of 2008, Jane joined Mutya ng Ibalong 2009 in Albay where she only took home the award for Best in Long Gown.
That's where Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009 Candidate No. 3 Catherine Dominique Lagrimas also competed and won 2nd Runner Up. But in Mutya ng Pilipinas, she's just one of the semifinalists.
As the new Mutya ng Pilipinas, Jane will represent the Philippines in the Miss Asia Pacific International.
Other titleholders for the Mutya ng Pilipinas search were candidates No. 26 Jacqueline Schubert (Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International - Aurora) and No. 10 Ana Baladad from the USA (Mutya ng Pilipnas- Overseas Communities).
