The Miss Universe 2009 Preliminary Competition, where the candidates competed both in swimsuit and in evening gown, was held on Sunday, August 16, 2009, in the Imperial Ballroom at the Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas.
There were a lot of huge surprises, some were disappointing but most of the favorites actually lived up to expectations.
