ABS-CBN reportedly will do a Filipino version of the hit 2008 movie Twilight in 2009.This time, it will be a television remake of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight to be entitled 'Takipsilim' starring Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Isabella.
According to an article from Yehey! Entertainment, ABS-CBN acquired the rights to do the TV remake for US$1 million with Ignite Media co-producing the remake.
To be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, shooting starts on February, 2009 in Baguio, Tagaytay, Bukidnon and some parts abroad.
For now, the unofficial cast includes Gabby Concepcion as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Luis Manzano as Emmett Cullen, Valeen Montenegro as Alice Cullen, Chin Chin Gutierrez as Esme Cullen, Karylle as Rosalie Hale, Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale, Al Tantay as Charlie Swan, Yayo Aguila as Renee Dwyer, Empress Schuck as Angela Weber, Fred Payawan as Jacob Black, Nikki Bacolod as Victoria, Carlos Agassi as James, Jessy Mendiola as Jessica Stanley, Brad Murdoch as Laurent and Aaron Villaflor as Mike Newton.
The said remake has not yet been announced on television but there's already a worldwide objection in doing the remake.
The news about the remake has already spread around the world, reaching to Perez Hilton.com, a very popular entertainment blog in the US.
According to Perez Hilton, teens are outraged over the news of a Filipino version of Twilight to be made for television because it will just ruin the real Twilight.
In fact, there's already an online petition asking everyone to say NO to the Filipino version of Twilight.
