Miss Norway Mariann Birkedal has just won the Miss World 2010 Top Model competition held earlier tonight.
Miss Norway also placed in the previous two fast-track events held prior to the Top Model. She was 3rd in the Beach Beauty event (won by Puerto Rico) and also 3rd in the Sports fast-track (won by Northern Ireland).
Puerto Rico, Northern Ireland and Norway are now guaranteed with a spot in the finals on October 30.
The Top Model Fast Track Results:
Winner - NORWAY, Mariann Birkedal
2nd Place - RUSSIA, Irina Sharipova
3rd Place - UNITED STATES, Alexandria Mills
TOP 20: ARGENTINA, Mariana Arambarry BELGIUM, Cilou Annys BOTSWANA, Emma Wareus CHINA PR, Xiao Tang ETHIOPIA, Hiwot Assefa Tesfaye FRENCH POLYNESIA, Mihilani Teixeira GHANA, Mimi Areme INDIA, Manasvi Mamgai SLOVAKIA, Marina Georgievova SOUTH AFRICA, Nicole Flint SPAIN, Fatima Jimenez ST. LUCIA, Aiasha Gustave SWEDEN, Daniela Karlsson THAILAND, Yuwaret Sirirat Rueangsri UKRAINE, Ekaterina Zakharchenko VENEZUELA, Adriana Vasini ZIMBABWE, Samantha Tshuma
The Top Model results were highly favorable because most of the big favorites are there.
And in the past years since the Top Model fast-track started in 2007, all of the runner-ups in the said event also ended up as semi-finalists. If the trend continues this 2010, therefore we should expect Russia and USA to also make it to the semis.
There are 115 candidates competing in China for the Miss World 2010 title. Too many! But for sure you have your Top 25 Favorites out of those 115 contestants.
All wearing red bikini, the Top 40 Beach Beauty semi-finalists finally competed today, 3 days after it was postponed due to heavy rain. It was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Sanya, China, trimming the Top 40 down to Top 20. And crowned Miss World 2010 Beach Beauty is Miss Puerto Rico Yara Liz Lasanta Santiago.
Miss Puerto Rico, who's also one of the favorites, now earns an automatic slot as one of the Official Top 15 semi-finalists of the pageant.
Though it's kinda disappointing not seeing Misses St. Lucia and Russia in the Top 20, Miss Puerto Rico as Beach Beauty winner is actually a great choice by the judges.
The results:
BEACH BEAUTY WINNER: PUERTO RICO, Yara Lasanta Santiago
2nd Place - UNITED STATES, Alexandria Mills
3rd Place - NORWAY, Mariann Birkedal
4th Place - CHINA PR, Xiao Tang
5th Place - FRENCH POLYNESIA, Mihilani Teixeira

From #8 on the previous list, Miss St. Lucia Aiasha Tierra Rebecca Gustave is now ranked 3rd on Mykiru's 3rd list of favorites for Miss World 2010. Is she the next on top?
The 18-year-old student who is of British-Guyanese mixture is among those candidates who have sustained their momentum ever since they land on China 2 weeks ago.
Aiasha's chance of winning the first Miss World title for her country is also getting stronger especially after she was chosen as one of the 10 speakers in the Shanghai Forum and after being included in the Top 40 Beach Beauty semi-finalists.
Expect Miss St. Lucia to perform so well in the Beach Beauty finals and also in the Top Model and Talent Fast-Track events.

Miss Venezuela Adriana Vasini tops Mykiru's first list of favorites for the Miss World 2010 title.
Adriana is a 22-year-old model and a student of Medicine in Venezuela. She was also the Reina Hispanoamericana 2009 titleholder.
And since it's only the 1st list of favorites, expect more changes on future lists since the "fast track" competitions haven't started yet. But expect Miss Venezuela to rock the Beach Beauty finals.
Here's a video of Adriana and watch how he presented herself in the swimsuit round of Miss Venezuela 2009:

As if nothing happened between their respective country (remember the hostage crisis?), Miss World 2010 contestants Sau Man "Sammi" Cheung from Hong Kong China and Czarina Gatbonton from the Philippines gamely posed together for a picture during their tour in Beijing.
Japan (Hiroko Matsunaga), Philippines & Hong Kong
Miss Philippines and Miss Hong Kong are showing to the world that they're fine with each other and definitely aren't gonna be affected by any issue caused by the hostage drama. That's good actually!

TIDBITS ABOUT THE OTHER CANDIDATES
India, Singapore and Thailand
Miss India Manasvi Mamgai, who was among the top pre-pageant favorites and is well-prepared, doesn't look her best in some pictures. She also appears short when lined up with other candidates. Maybe her experience in modeling and as Miss Tourism International 2008 could give her the edge over other candidates. Same thing for the host delegate Miss China Xiao Tang who's also not looking her best.

Miss Australia Ashleigh Francis is half-Jamaican while Miss Indonesia Asyifa Syafningdyah Putriambami Latief is half-Arabian.

Julia Morley to Miss Philippines Czarina Gatbonton: "You're so beautiful!"
Miss Spain Fatima Jimenez, Miss Philippines, Miss Puerto Rico Yara Lasanta & Miss Venezuela Adriana Vasini
Miss Philippines Czarina Gatbonton happily shared to her trainer and handler John dela Vega that Miss World Organization President Julia Morley has described her as beautiful.
Morley said to Czarina, "You're so beautiful, what country are you representing?" Czarina replied, "I'm from the Philippines Madamme."
The compliment is making Miss Philippines inspired. "Tito John, grabe ang self-confidence ko ngayon, hindi ako nahihiya at all, ganadong-ganado ako at excited at na-meet ko na si Julia Morley - I'm beautiful daw!" (Tito John, I have so much self-confidence. I'm not ashamed at all. I feel so inspired and excited. I finally met Julia Morley and she said I'm beautiful!)
John dela Vega, who's keeping in touch with Czarina, also shared that Czarina gave Morley a pearl necklace a day after they first met. Some media men and MWO staff reportedly have mistaken Miss Philippines as Miss India.
