Supermodel Ruslana Korshunova falls to death

At a very young age of 20, Kazakh-Russian supermodel Ruslana Korshunova died Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2008 after she fell from the 9th floor of Manhattan Apartment in New York.

According to an initial report by the police, Ruslana died in an apparent suicide and investigations are still ongoing as to whether someone else was with her when she fell from the 9th floor balcony.

A sought-after model, Ruslana Korshunova modelled for DKNY, Christian Dior and Vera Wang. She also graced covers of Elle and Vogue magazines.

She was discovered by Debbie Jones of Models 1 agency in 2003.

Korshunova was supposed to turn 21 this July 2.

Pacquiao vs Diaz boxing match

Filipino boxer Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao will be up again to snatch another major boxing title as he faces WBC Lightweight Champion David Diaz of Mexico on Saturday evening, June 28, 2008 (Sunday morning in Manila) at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Will Pacquiao make history again and give another honor to the Philippines?

At this point, I think bets are already in for the said boxing fight, expectations have been made and predictions are all on hand as to who between Pacquiao and Diaz will be the champion.

Here's what sport writers and analysts have to say:

John Nguyen of The Sweet Science
Diaz and Pacquiao will fight on fairly even terms early, as Pacquiao adjusts to fighting a larger foe as well as his first southpaw opponent in several fights. A tenacious and adrenaline-filled Diaz might even have some success crowding Pacquiao and making things ugly. As the fight wears on, though, Pacquiao's greater speed and sharper punching will create more distance, as Diaz struggles to find Plan B. With no answers, Diaz will be reduced to plodding forward, lunging in with the occasional ineffective lead left hand. Pacquiao, meanwhile, will continue to pepper the outclassed Diaz. While it wouldn't be surprising to see a stoppage late, it might be even more likely to see Freddie Roach advise his fighter to cruise down the stretch with the fight well in hand.

Manny's lightweight debut will be a smashing success.

Pacquiao is gonna knock out Diaz in the middle rounds. Tough as Diaz is, Pacquiao is plenty tough himself, and way better overall. He should be fairly easy pickings. Figure it this way: A very faded Morales — there were reports that his ears rang with every punch — almost beat Diaz, even though Morales had moved up from 130 lbs. exactly as Pacquiao is doing. Pacquiao’s roughly in his prime. I don’t know if Pacquiao’s power is going to carry as well at 135, and his trainer, Roach, has questioned whether it will. But Pacquiao should have more than enough for Diaz’s poor noggin. The quicker he gets Diaz out of there, the more convinced I will be of Pacquiao’s lightweight experiment.

This is a non-scientific, non expert opinion but I feel that Manny Paquiao is destined for greatness when one is to consider his humble beginnings.

Many people see "Pac-Man" stopping Diaz quickly. I see a much tougher fight for Pacquiao. Making his lightweight debut, Manny may find himself having to answer some hard questions in the fight. Will Pacquiao's power still be as formidable at 135 pounds? Will his speed be affected? Will the weight of a lightweight's punching power affect him? All will soon be told. Look for Manny to have his hands full as he collects a close decision win.

Pacquiao and Diaz know what’s in stake this Saturday. A win for either of them will turn tides. Pacquiao will be bringing his speed and power and David will pack his resilience and determination to battle against Pacquiao. This fight will not last long. David will be carrying his heart for the fight while Pacquiao is carrying a country and his future.

Both fighters deserve to be the victor but there can only be one winner… I love Diaz but with Manny not draining himself for the fight I expect a blitzkrieg Manny doing volumes of punches. Diaz maybe an underrated underdog that exceeds expectations one punch can make a difference but this time he stays an underdog.

I guess I'm in the minority, because while I expect Pacquiao to win, I think Diaz is going to give Pacquaio a good, competitive fight Saturday night -- and I think it's way too soon to be talking about fighting Marquez again.

Marian Rivera tops FHM's 100 sexiest list for 2008

Marian Rivera has not yet been a cover girl of FHM Philippines, but she has been named #1 sexiest by the said popular magazine on its annual list of 100 Sexiest Women in the country.

Wow, that's pretty something huh!

Two-time #1 sexiest Katrina Halili came in 2nd place while Angel Locsin, one-time FHM sexiest, is secured with the 3rd slot.

Will this stir a controversy? Or will it bring a big celebration for GMA 7 now that another Kapuso has topped the annual list?

On ABS-CBN Publishing's Maxim Hot 100 list for 2008, Marian landed on the 2nd spot, only behind Angel Locsin.

In 2007, the Dyesebel star was only at #24.

The rankings are based on the text and online votings conducted by FHM Philippines.

'Mini Me' on a s*x tape scandal

Remember the delightful Mini Me of Austin Powers?

I hope you do.

And I'm pretty much sure you never have thought that 2'8" tall Verne Troyer, who played Mini-Me in two installments of Austin Powers, would become a big star of a s*x tape.

According to reports, Verne 'Mini Me' Troyer has a scandalous video available video online doing a s*xual act with his ex-girlfriend, identified as Ranae Shrider, in an apartment.

The full video is being distributed online, of course with a pay, and for sure, it's going to be a hit just like his latest movie The Love Guru with Mike Myers.

Looking at the screen caps of the said tape, well it's far more hilarious than Troyer's mainstream movies.

Chivas Malunda, expelled from the Academy

Two days before the 1st Probation Night, nagdesisyon na ang pamunuan ng Pinoy Dream Academy na patawan ng Forced Expulsion si Chivas Anton Malunda ng Negros Oriental dahil sa isyung pangkalusugan.

Inatake na naman kasi si Chivas ng kanyang sakit sa ikatlong pagkakataaon nung Huwebes ng umaga at sa kadahilanang ito, ay nagdesisyon ang Academy na patalsikin na si Chivas bago pa man lumala ang lahat.

Bagamat pabor ito sa mga fans ng mga probationary scholars na sina Laarni Losala at Iñaki Ting, marami rin ang nadismaya sa desisyong ito ng Academy.

Ayon pa sa mga texters, bakit kung kelan dalawang araw na lang bago mag-probation night ay saka sinuspende ang botohan samantalang pwede na itong isuspende noong Linggo pa lamang, kung kelan ay nagkaroon ng pangalawang atake si Chivas sa loob ng Academy.

Pilit ng nakararami, perahan na naman ba ito?

Sana raw ay itinuloy ang botohan kung sino ang dapat manatili kina Laarni at Iñaki dahil marami-rami na rin daw ang kanilang naiboto mula pa noong Linggo.

Since 2 weeks pa lang naman ang mga scholars sa loob ng Academy, naghanap na lang daw sana ng bagong ipapalit kay Chivas.

Nakakapanghinayang si Chivas. Maganda pa naman ang kanyang naging performance noong Gala Night at isa siya sa pinaka-popular na scholars ng Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

Ang kanyang maybahay na si Bunny ay naiwan sa loob ng Academy upang ipagpatuloy ang kanilang nasimulang laban.

Still on Pinoy Dream Academy, sa puntong ito ay masasabing sina Van Louelle Pojas at Hansen Nichols ang mahigpit na magkalaban pagdating sa paramihan ng fans.

Sayang si Ranjit 'Jet' Singh. Maganda ang kanyang pagsisimula sa Academy ngunit unti-unting lumalabas ang kanyang hind kaaya-ayang pag-uugali. May "kaunting" yabang ito at hindi gentleman pagdating sa kanyang mga pananalita, especially kay Laarni. Hindi ko makalimutan 'yung sinabi niyang baka masampal niya si Laarni nang dahil lamang sa tinapay.

Sa mga babae naman ay lamang sina Cris Pastor at Apple Abarquez, ngunit dahil sa pagiging close ni Apple kay Bea Muñoz at sa kanilang pagba-backstab kay Laarni ay mukhang maapektuhan ito.

Negative kasi ngayon ang pangalan ni Bea dahil sa pagiging antipatika nito at masyadong mapapel sa loob ng Academy.

Kung may natutuwa kay Bugoy, meron din namang hindi natutuwa sa kanya at isa na ako roon. Bagamat kababayan ko siya from Camarines Sur, hindi ko nagustuhan nang itanggi niyang hindi siya bading samantalang numero uno siyang naghahasik ng kabaklaan sa loob ng Academy.

Mukhang may gusto nga siya kay Hansen at big deal sa kanya kapag hindi siya pinapansin nito.

Ayaw na ayaw ko rin ang paggamit ni Bugoy ng kanyang pinanggalingan niya bilang anak ng magsasaka sa kanyang pakikibaka sa Academy. Kagaya ni Rosita Bareng ng PDA Season 1, ginagamit niya rin ang kanyang mga kakulangan upang mapansin at makakuha ng simpatiya mula sa manonood.

Maliban kay Bugoy, ayaw ko rin sa mga scholars na sina Iñaki Ting dahil sa pagiging mayabang at si Christian Alvear dahil sa pagiging sensitibo pagdating sa kanyang height. Paano makakapamuhay nang normal si Christian kung patuloy siyang magpapaapekto sa kanyang kakulangan?

Sa pagkakaligtas naman ni Laarni from expulsion ngayong Sabado, may pagkakataon na siyang ipamukha na mas magaling siya kumpara sa iba. Makatulong kaya ang paglipat niya ng org, mula One Voice patungong Pupilars, sa kanyang mga susunod na performances?

Pakatutukan palagi ang Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 gabi-gabi sa ABS-CBN.
