Here's how I rank the 7 official entries in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Philippines 2009, with #1 as the first movie I'm going to watch on December up to #7 as the movie I'd definitely not watch at all.
#1. I LOVE YOU GOODBYE
Under Star Cinema/ABS-CBN Film Productions
Directed By: Laurice Guillen
Cast: Gabby Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban, Kim Chiu, Derek Ramsay, Liza Lorena, Matet de Leon, Arlene Muhlach, Ces Quesada, Cris Villanueva, Ketchup Eusebio, Joem Bascon, Janna Dominguez and Angel Aquino
Since it is a Star Cinema film, I always put it on my priority list because I was generally satisfied with the Star Cinema movies I've watched in the previous MMFF.
This kind of movie is also one thing I've really missed in a Metro Manila Film Festival. And it's indeed a blessing in disguise that Kris Aquino's Ikaw Na Nga had been replaced by this one.
"I Love You Goodbye" marks Gabby Concepcion's comeback in the big screen and as what he said before, he wanted his comeback to be a BIG COMEBACK. I hope he'd not disappoint us with this one.
Having Kim Chiu in the cast is also a big plus for the movie.
#2. SHAKE, RATTLE & ROLL 11
Under Regal Entertainment
Episode 1: "Lamang Lupa"
Directed by: Jessel Monteverde
Cast: Rayver Cruz, Jennica Garcia, Iya Villania, Mart Escudero, Bangs Garcia, Felix Roco and Dominic Roco.
Episode 2: "Diablo"
Directed by: Rico Gutierrez
Cast: Maja Salvador, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Irma Adlawan, Joem Bascon and Gina Alajar
Episode 3: "Ukay-Ukay"
Directed by: Don Michael Perez
Cast: Ruffa Gutierrez, Zoren Legaspi, Megan Young, Carlo Guevara, Miguel Faustman and John Lapus
I have watched most of the past SRR series and definitely I won't miss the latest one. The ONLY "horror" movie in the line-up and it's always a "fun" for me to watch a Shake, Rattle & Roll movie.
#3. ANG DARLING KONG ASWANG
Under OctoArts Films/M-Zet/APT Entertainment
Directed by Tony Y. Reyes
Cast: Vic Sotto, Cristine Reyes, Jean Garcia, Agot Isidro, Rafael Rosell, Dante Rivero, Luz Fernandez, Allan K, Alfred Vargas, Denise Laurel, Empress Schuck, Jackie Rice, Gian Sotto, Barbie Forteza, Mika dela Cruz, Wally Bayola, Joonee Gamboa, Shalala, Ritchie d’Horsie and Joey De Leon
Bossing Vic himself does not consider this movie as a horror movie, but a comedy film just like his previous MMFF entries.
I have watched "Enteng Kabisote" series in the previous MMFF and this one is another hilarious movie from the same producer.
So far, a Vic Sotto starrer in an MMFF has never disappointed me.

#4. MANO PO 6: A MOTHER'S LOVE
Under Regal Entertainment
Directed by Joel Lamangan
Cast: Sharon Cuneta, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Christopher De Leon, Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo, Boots Anson Roa, Ciara Sotto, Ricky Davao, Zoren Legaspi, JC De Vera, Glaiza de Castro, NiƱa Jose, Ryan Eigenmann, John Manalo, Nicole Uysiuseng and Kris Aquino.
If not because of Sharon Cuneta and Dennis Trillo, I won't watch this movie.
I don't see anything special in the story and hopefully, Dennis Trillo's bed scenes in the movie would satisfy me.
It is also not appealing to me how they capitalize on the issue of Heart Evangelista over Dennis and Cristine Reyes.
But I will still watch this movie so I could compare this one with "I Love You Goodbye" and judge who's going to take home the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress honors.
#5. NOBODY, NOBODY BUT JUAN
Under RVQ Productions
Directed Eric Quizon
Cast: Dolphy, Eddie Garcia, Gloria Romero, Eric Quizon, Vandolf, Jeffrey Quizon, Heart Evangelista, G Toengi, Pokwang, Eugene Domingo, Bearwin Meiley, Joe Aldeguer, Mar Lopez and Willie Revillame
I'm still undecided whether to watch this or not. It's a 50-50 chance, depending on my mood later this year.
The movie is already predictable. It's inspired from ABS-CBN's Wowowee but still, the story seems ordinary for me.
And it also didn't help even if Willie is personally endorsing it everyday, minute by minute on his program.
#6. ANG PANDAY
Under GMA Films/Imus Productions
Directed by Mac Alejandre
Cast: Ramon 'Bong' Revilla Jr, Phillip Salvador, Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos, Geoff Eigenmann, Buboy Villar, Sheena Halili, Carlene Aguilar, Paulo Avelino, Stef Prescott, Carlos Morales, Luz Valdez, Benjie Paras, Joonee Gamboa, John Lapus, Gladys Guevarra, Pekto, Bellie and Anne Curtis
This movie could have been #2 or #3 on my list, but because Sen. Bong Revilla recently said something against ex-doctor Hayden Kho Jr, I've decided not to watch this movie. I'm sorry!
He should have not talked about him lately, especially during this time that he has an MMFF movie to promote. It won't help!
I was really impressed with the trailer and Sen. Bong is indeed right that they have world-class special effects for this one. For that, ConGRAAAATulations!!!
#7 WAPAKMAN
Under Solar Entertainment
Directed by Topel Lee
Cast: Manny Pacquiao, Rufa Mae Quinto, Polo Ravales, Krista Ranillo, Bianca King, Benjie Paras, Mura, John Manalo, Jairus Aquino, Kyle Balili, Mica Torre, Cha Cha Canete and Jojo Alejar
No explanation needed!!!
